Hands down worst tactic ever. My alliance has already decided to just do itemless wars, partly due the holiday (which is still BS it's forced on us) but after 2 offseason wars with this tactic, it seems dumb to waste potions and loyalty to lose 50-80% health every tactic fight, if not die 3 times to it.
Having said all that, I'm sure Kabam will push back war season and use this tactic as an excuse. It will get fixed and run how it should I think, but not until after the new year, which is a win-win for everyone.
The forum: AW tactic both attack & defense are not good - you should review thme. Maybe even reinstate the traditional annual Christmas AW break to fix it.
Check it out, I don't think they will reach 400 deaths so I'm not going to wait any longer. Please notice this is a T1 war, so most players should have reasonably good skill.
This is how AW looks like when giving up diversity and only putting global defenders.
Echoing the same thing, T2 and hundreds of deaths on both sides. I'm only popping the 40% revives, and there's been fights I've died from the first special they throw, even with parrying most of the hits
Measly Tier 5 here. The tactic sucks for us too. I guess it’s easier but we are also less skilled lol. On the flip side, we don’t spend much trying to avoid deaths, so the consequences aren’t nearly as bad as in higher tiers. But it still makes war pretty miserable.
I chatted with the game team, who were aware of this issue and worked to resolve it. After chatting with them we have the following conclusion.
Early in the offseason, there was a bug that was causing a difficult combination of nodes to be even more difficult as a result of root not being removed at the end of defenders attacks. A fix for that bug went out this morning.
Beyond that, the team is happy with the current state of nodes, which were expressly designed to slightly increase the difficultly level of war.

The team is happy about people dropping the game mode? Because that's how it's going to be. I don't wish to item out every war... and same thing goes for other people from what I've read in this post... I think all it takes to make the attack tactic relevant is increase block proficiency or otherwise reduce block damage at least when steadfast is active. It's still challenging as you have to forcefully intercept and it does require some level of skill. Which means if you fail and get comboed you still pay the price for that. But at least it rewards you for playing by the nodes. With the node combination as is, you are forced to ignore the tactics and bring nuke options or quake/magik and the likes. I believe the goal of Kabam with global tactics was to improve diversity and a variety of options for attack. To make less used champs viable through the value of attack tactics. I think this global attack tactic is missing the mark by a lot, as it is more or less irrelevant. Imagine a 6s r5 ascended or a 7s r3, fully boosted. Max health is like 100k or little less. And you lose half of that to block damage every fight, if you play perfectly. Not to mention if you mess up. Does the game team understand the importance of this issue? Potions are expensive. And you should never be punished for playing the nodes correctly. You should be rewarded for that.
I honestly believe the game team have missed the mark by some distance if their intention was only to slightly increase the difficulty level of war.
My alliance has already been talking about playing next season only using the 40% team revives. No boosts, no potions.
I would imagine many others are having similar conversations.
Which is not what Kabam wants because that means more or less killing the game mode. You use 1 loyalty revives and you don't spend and nobody cares lol. That's some result! Like I said it takes very little to make this attack tactic valuable. Just reward the player for playing the node by not losing a ton of health to block damage and that's all it takes to fix it. As it stands now playing the mode is not convenient. It's very costly (way more than usual) and it's not rewarding. Especially during banquet event season when people want to focus their units on that.
Looks like the game team is either ignorant of the game itself, doesn't want to admit they made a mistake or just feel that maybe the explicit top few players who find the tactic fine are those who play the game. Pretty depressing when you think that the state of potions is technically never improving. The meager amount of loyalty that has been increased is literally useless.

Kabam want us to lose a tonne health and then spend all our loyalty to heal back up and when the loyalty runs out, units...
Lovely, right after a unit spending event we then need units for the next month so just another money grabbing exercise really.

So what? This post literally said 1 blocked special is 15% health and a 2nd would be another 30%.
So you're telling me, the game team wants us to lose 45% EVERY FIGHT?!
My champs are pushing 100k helath when boosted, its literally going to cost me 160 units to recover that, I do 5 fights a war MINIMUM!
I am not spending excess of 300 units every damn war... unless you wanna send me the £10 it'll cost me to by that every war for the next month?

@Kabam Jax have you tried playing with this tactic? It's virtually impossible to work with and counter.
The only potions that are effective for 100k healthpools cost units… during a unit spending event. If the goal was to kill participation in AW, I guess they hit the mark…

Jax, I know this doesn't fall on you because it's not your department but unfortunately for you, you are the voice and thus will be on the frontlines to receive our outrage so I am doing my best to word it neutrally.
Difficulty is one thing. Your fight designers have come up with lots of difficult content over the years, and I've noticed that the community as a whole tends to enjoy the challenging content like EOP, Necropolis, unique act boss fights, gauntlet, etc.
The issue with this war tactic has nothing to do with difficulty. It's unavoidable damage which will force people to use massive amounts of resources in order to keep up with whales in one of the few game modes that is still relatively comparable in terms of F2P vs P2W. There are specials that are impossible to dex among the tactic defenders. All it takes is for an alliance to load the entire map with such defenders and force the other team to either spend hundreds of units per person or rack up 100+ deaths. It is either a massive oversight, a lazy node design or both.
I know it's becoming an echo chamber but I am also in a tier 2 alliance, and I have loads of friends in Platinum 2, 1 and masters alliances who are all saying the same thing. Between this, the lackluster banquet rewards and the lack of holiday break, I am predicting a refusal to participate in these events for a lot of endgame players, and a tightening of wallets for many players who would have ordinarily spent on the game this Holliday season.
I'm not sure who is happy with the current state of the nodes or if they are talking to other members of the Kabam team, but I don't think anyone on either side wants to see people refusing to participate in the next AW season.
Beyond that, the team is happy with the current state of nodes, which were expressly designed to slightly increase the difficultly level of war.
but did they really answer this?
is honestly offensive, the honest answer they could give is:
make do if you want to participate in the alliance war……. keep this mode, those who don't want to use resources and especially units.......don't do it, we don't care thanks

So basically the intention of the team was to make an attack tactic useless? Why have them then? Sounds like a node made to drive item usage and lots of them And you know what's funny? People were already trigged about playing AW during the holidays and kabam made sure to keep it that way and include some of the worst nodes we've seen in a while, that's nice i guess people will have to choose between lose the aw rewards or playing an stressful node like this one while on vacation
“Slightly increase the difficulty level of the war”, are you kidding me, this is 370 deaths in a T1 war Try it yourself, this is the only thing I want to say

I think you and the team need to look up the definition of “slightly”.

Ok no items used apart from the 1 loyalty 40% revives but I’ve never seen anything like this.
