I see some people have decided that they don't want to play this game anymore and wanna go out in a blaze of stupidity.
I want to keep on playing this game. I love Kabam, I love marvel. But according to you guys, speaking your own mind and thinking different than others is apparently an act of stupidity.
I'm sorry to be the one to inform you that this isn't Twitter. If you have a fundamental ideological disagreement with a company, my suggestion is to not use the communication platform that THEY CONTROL to make the complaint. It's just not very bright.
I don’t care man. I’m free to speak what I think is right and wrong. And if they think I’m wrong and that I should be banned, go for it. If people hate me for who I am and what I think, let them hate me.

It's not that deep, bro.
I know that this is just a game. But I’m free to speak what I want to speak
I agree, this country has a lot of hateful and bigoted people! I am so tired of the hatefulness. Kabam is not making anyone gay, bisexual or whatever the case may be! If you dont agree with it, stop playing the f’n game. I love everyone no matter of who they are! Get over it you haters!!!!
I'm going to read the entire thread, as I always do, but I can pretty much guess where this is going, since it goes to exactly the same places every year without exception.
1. The first amendment to the US Constitution is often cited as enshrining a "freedom of speech" right, but US citizens have no such right. We colloquially call it that, but the amendment actually states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. The first amendment basically says the government can't arbitrarily curtail speech. Private entities can, however. They are not limited by the first amendment.
2. Even under constitutional law, there is the doctrine that even the government can restrict certain classes of speech if there is a specific overriding government interest to do so. The Constitution places certain responsibilities on government to protect its citizens, for example, and speech can be regulated in certain narrow circumstances. Private entities have analogous interests not limited by law: they can decide for themselves what sort of speech is proper and what sort of speech is harmful within the spaces they control.
3. I'm sure by now someone is asking why Pride Month and not International Men's Day (which was brought up on IWD) or North American Doughnut Appreciation Week or whatever. Again, private entities are allowed to decide which things they decide to celebrate, acknowledge, or recognize. We don't have an International Earth Day acknowledgement in MCOC, or Cancer Awareness Week, or World Autism Awareness Day in MCOC, even though those are all great days of recognition. We focus on things like International Women's Day and Pride Month because MCOC is a game based on comic books, and historically comic books, like much media, has had a representation problem. Traditionally oppressed, denigrated, or otherwise disadvantaged groups have had those situations reflected in comic books by either lack of representation out of fear of backlash, or often disposable treatment, ala Fridging.
Comic books have had no problem depicting males and male issues, depicting straight people and their issues, depicting problems with the environment, with illness and death, with people eating doughnuts. These things happen as a matter of course. They have often treated women as second class citizens, and non-heterosexuals as either being token crime victims or simply not existing at all. And that's why in a game with a recognized history of lack of inclusivity, whose most famous public face was always (as far as I know) a voice for inclusivity of all kinds, whose most famous characters include proxies for the civil rights movement, acknowledging this by incorporating some of the generally recognized days and months designed to promote awareness of this is entirely logical and reasonable.
But I think the most important reason why it is so important to recognize International Woman's Day and Pride Month, and things like this, is because if MCOC did actually decide to add National Cancer Awareness Week to the game, we wouldn't have scores of lunatics claiming Kabam were a bunch of autism bigots or trying to promote some cancer agenda. They wouldn't be forced to respond to people saying Cancer Awareness week is an insult to all other diseases. Because most of us can accept that a company can decide to highlight one among many causes that they feel are important to them. The fact that there is always a backlash to IWD and Pride Month is *why* it is important to recognize them. We do it, until the day when no one blinks an eye when we do it. On that day, we probably won't need those days of awareness anymore.
But until then, we do it because we recognize that most of us, as comic book or comic book property games fans, understand that the comic book industry and the video game industry has not consistently treated minorities and disadvantaged groups as inclusively and fairly as we should, and that we should be aware of that fact and try to avoid those mistakes in the future. And in part, we do it because discrimination and bigotry often grows in the shadows first, like mold, and letting it pop out and become visible is a potent reminder of why vigilance is the price not just of freedom, but equality.
What we see here today is what the LGBTQ+ community sees every day. Today is the day we get to stand with them as brothers and sisters and non-binary pals and catch the tiniest glimpse of what it is like. So that the next time someone says this is just reverse discrimination, we can tell them to go climb a tree.
I see some people have decided that they don't want to play this game anymore and wanna go out in a blaze of stupidity.
I want to keep on playing this game. I love Kabam, I love marvel. But according to you guys, speaking your own mind and thinking different than others is apparently an act of stupidity.
thinking different ≠ hating on others
I have never in the discussion have hated on someone’s ideals. I brought in 3rd party views. I love the idea that humans have the right to speak what they want and not be hated for it
Yes you have, you just believe the hate you spew isn't hate. That's the fundamental problem people like you have. It's too hard for you just say "I don't hate you, I just don't agree with your lifestyle". You have to spew nonsense like saying no one is born gay but their gay because it's a "left" ideology.
Nothing anyone in the LGBQTIA+ does hurts you. People are people my guy. The only people that should be condemned in life are murderers.
Kabam this is an infringement of my rights as a player. You guys push an agenda to make money, make everyone homosexual or bisexual, whatever. And then you guys ban people who don’t agree with you? To an American like me, this just looks like you guys are facists and don’t want us to speak our minds because when we do then you don’t make money, get bad reviews, and users leave your game. Not only do you silence those who speak out against your agenda. But you go into chats telling everyone that I’ve been banned, making them ridicule me even more.
Fuuckk you bigot.
I apologize if I hurt your feelings but I’m not a bigot.
Anyone who says this:
You guys push an agenda to make money, make everyone homosexual or bisexual, whatever.
Is either a bigot or an idiot or both. As the overlap tends to be quite large, most people are just going to assume both.
I see some people have decided that they don't want to play this game anymore and wanna go out in a blaze of stupidity.

I never said anything about being gay is a left ideology, sexuality has no ideology, I’m just saying is that the left side of the political spectrum make laws in accordance to sexuality that isn’t normal as it was 40-50 years ago. I think everyone should practice what they want and are entitled to freedom of expression, and freedom of speech.
I’ve read the whole thread. I’m not gonna go into too much detail in my response, I think @DNA3000 already said things far more eloquently than I would. But I’ll say this:
I see some people have decided that they don't want to play this game anymore and wanna go out in a blaze of stupidity.
I want to keep on playing this game. I love Kabam, I love marvel. But according to you guys, speaking your own mind and thinking different than others is apparently an act of stupidity.

I am literally a lawyer, having taken entire classes on first amendment jurisprudence and I can tell you with 1000% certainty that you are not. None of us have any rights to anything Kabam offers. They could shut the whole thing down tomorrow and we would have no recourse. They could Thanos snap away half the game’s population for funsies. We have no rights.
Is this man's brain built like a brick or he has never read the US Constitution?
Let’s do a hypothetical. If kabam had forced unto you a Christian, Muslim or Jewish ideal, would you not be mad? Would your disagreement not be justified? If I would’ve been Muslim and said this it would’ve even been more justified, as the love between the same sex in Islam is heavily frowned upon.
Your comparing religion to sexual preferences. Those aren't the same thing fella. Apples to oranges. But to answer your question, no I wouldn't get mad. People can choose to believe and love whatever they want to love. It's their CHOICE. But that choice does not give you the right to criticism and hate towards them. Mind your own business and live your own life. Stop worrying about other people.
You wouldn’t get irritated if the game sent you a message celebrating straight pride if you were a gay person? You would, so just think about that in the same way that I am.
No. Would not. You don't know me and don't presume to know my preferences. That's the whole reason your a piece of garbage. Now stop with the topic, before you get banned everywhere permanently.
As much as I can’t presume your preferences neither can you ‘e. So that’s why I think this game should be free of politics and other concerning topics of the world.
Why do you think gay people existing is political.
I believe gay people exist. But pushing the idea that they are born gay, is a totally left ideology.
INSANELY bad take. Divorced from reality take. Nobody would choose persecution if they could avoid it. A dude going through a dry spell can’t just change his orientation to suddenly be into other things. That’s not how anything works.

Do you not think that companies change their ways of thinking to make money? Fan service is what Kabam is doing. I don’t condemn it but it’s also annoying when it’s pandered to a group of people who don’t make 100% of the fanbase.

Literally no group makes up 100% of a fan base. That's the dumbest thing I've ever read.
Do you not think that companies change their ways of thinking to make money? Fan service is what Kabam is doing. I don’t condemn it but it’s also annoying when it’s pandered to a group of people who don’t make 100% of the fanbase.
You claim to be an American, presumably living in America, the one called the United States of America, the one sandwiched between Canada and Mexico, and you believe that Kabam has decided the best way to make money is to highlight LGBTQ+ issues in their game? Because *that'* is what succeeds in mass market media in 'Murica?
On the one hand, you claim Kabam is pushing some unwanted agenda upon their playerbase, and on the other hand you're claiming that doing so is the best way to get those people to spend money on the game. That's illogical.
Only a bigot, someone who simultaneously hates and fears LGBTQ+ people, would claim that promoting Pride Month is trying to make people gay. I said there was a lot of overlap between bigot and idiot because the rationalizations I hear trying to support this position are invariably contradictory and ridiculous. This would be one of those times.
You are starting from the position that LGBTQ+ is a wide deleterious conspiracy of some vague kind, and then bending all the facts to support it, to the point of absurdity. Kabam is promoting Pride Month because they must be pandering to the players, they can't actually be in favor of it, because only a few radical lefties are actually in favor of it. And of course companies only do things for money, so somehow the underpants gnomes must have profit at the end of promoting the LGBTQ+ agenda. So of course somehow promoting an agenda that must be targeted at only a tiny minority of players, because the people who actually care about LGBTQ+ equality are a tiny minority, nevertheless generates more revenue for Kabam than had they stayed silent.
I see some people have decided that they don't want to play this game anymore and wanna go out in a blaze of stupidity.
I want to keep on playing this game. I love Kabam, I love marvel. But according to you guys, speaking your own mind and thinking different than others is apparently an act of stupidity.

40 to 50 years ago, things were even harder but people started to become more accepting. We also didn't hear about things as much because social media didn't exist.
People have been fighting for as long for them to be considered equal. 100 years ago, women couldn't vote. 60ish years ago, black people didn't have rights.
It's an evolution, it always has been. Just because new laws are being made, which they shouldn't have to because we're all human, doesn't mean problems didn't exist or there wasn't anyone who was gay in 1975.
It's just the the left, believe in inclusion while the right believes only white men should have rights. The left think everyone should be accepted and have equal rights. They fight for the rights to allow people to live their lives the way they choose instead of the government telling you how to live like how the right wants it.
The fact that there is always a backlash is *why* it is important to recognize them. We do it, until the day when no one blinks an eye when we do it. On that day, we probably won't need those days of awareness anymore.
The irony of people who want to control how and whom others love ,calling kabam fascist.
Is neutrality control? Keeping a game free of political and economic issues makes the game less controlling of what the player does. I don’t care who you love or who you don’t.
Lgbtq people existing is not political.
All of my fire jokes in this thread being removed is though. I know it was you Pikolu
