New "Real Event" BG season 22

I really don't like this one.
For some reason I have no faith in the community on an event like this.
The GC vs VT point gain difference makes it even worse.

I don't hate the idea, but I don't love the idea. I enjoy that there are more rewards to get at least. It is a steep climb, but it isn't as bad as opening 1 billion crystals.

My prediction, some people will get a lot more rewards than they deserve and others will get a lot less than what they worked for.

How so? The rewards are locked behind individual point requirements.

The milestone requirements definitely feel pretty steep. To get 5000 points you’d need 39 wins with elders marks in gc, and obviously it’ll be a lot more than that due to having to play in vt or if you use energy for some matches. I don’t even play 40 matches in a full season, let alone in gc, and that’s assuming they’re all wins, so im also pretty skeptical of us hitting all the milestones.

With seeding getting into GC doesnt really take that many matches. Plus we already know that not everybody gets the Deathless pieces.

From an absolute minimum perspective it’s a big change. Standard seasons it takes 134 losses with Elder Marks to hit the top 300,000 score. For “special seasons” it takes 178 losses to hit the top 400,000 points required. This season it’s 218.

Obviously you’ll win some matches as that’s the bare minimum required. Rewards appear to be better than the past special seasons so take that into consideration.

So basically how alliance rewards for BGs currently work?

This is absolute trash. One of those “everyone gets a trophy kind of thing”. And then expect anyone to spend hundreds on a titan crystal trying to get rank 1. No chance. Maybe this is good for thronebreakers

Except this requires far more participation than just showing up. And the only hope in hitting 5k points is with winning a good amount, something smaller accounts will have a much harder time with.

Alliances have their own minimum contributions set.
Your rewards on your progression level will be tied to the will of lower progression players to spend time and resources. Completely different to a realm event idea of a crystal opening where all crystals opened give the same ammount of points.

I have a reasonably advanced roster as a new valiant. I will have 9000 elders marks to start season 22. There is no way on this earth I will be able to hit 5000 points. Unless they’ve invented some type of new math, I’m just not going to be that motivated.

Yea it’s not like it’s unachievable but it’s a substantial increase. If you were to win every match using marks to get to 300k solo points would take 45 matches. This season reaching 5000 will take 62. It’s 40 total gc matches but none of us start there, so it ends up being 62 when you take that into account. But obviously almost nobody will end up with a 100% winrate or a 0% winrate, so im guessing on average it’ll take 90-100 matches to reach 5000 for someone who can hit gc fairly easily. Still feels like a lot to me.

I might be wrong; but the thought of a Real Event was for everyone to push towards a goal.
With the point difference in VT and GC, a huge chunk of the player base is starting and participating in this event with a hand tied behind their backs.
We have asked for an incentive to play in GC, clearly they misunderstood our request.

Hey, at least the whales are going to carry the event trying to get the Bastion title. I want to believe that because otherwise, I doubt we'll hit all the milestones.

Somehow Kabam's idea of celebrating anniversaries and events has been weird. Somehow they link the word celebration with grinding, working, and spending.
Imagine going to your parents 50th anniversary and telling them they gotta clean up the whole place... 🤷

As a Valiant, you won't be able to get enough wins from roughly 150 matches? If you wait a week or 2 before pushing VT, then you would probably be winning 90% of all of your VT matches with probably a fair amount of paragons/TBs/Cavs forfeiting against you during that climb. Then you'll probably still have 9k or so elders marks, or 100 matches, to win 23-27 of them (depending on how many points you already got in VT). Every 4 matches you lose constitutes as about a win in points, so if you did 100 matches in GC, then you'd only need to actually win 0-2 matches to get the 5k. I imagine that even a new valiant would be able to do that.

Now if you push day 1, then your going to have issues as a lot of the top dogs are playing then. It is much better to just wait if you aren't confident in your roster and skills.

Plus with no reasonable reward.
Those that have the resources or able to push that hard/high have no care to get a titan crystal. Plus this titan pool is the worst weve had so far

This - reminds me of the anniversary celebration arena grind a couple years ago.

I'l just do what I need to get to GC and get the She-Hulk piece.

Yeah i think the vast point difference in VT and GC is actually doing more harm than good.

Then again, i can see why they did it as certain uncollected /TB players like @MorningstarIsBae kept crying and spamming threads here that they were facing larger accounts in the Victory Track.

I assume this was meant to incentive people to push into the Gladiator Circuit asap so as to prevent farming. Even though farming wasnt an issue to begin with as certain players just chose to push later on in the season and since it costed twice the energy it did before to even sustain it.

But now with the vast difference in points in GC and VT , i can just see people farming in low tier GC.

In short, they tried to discourage farming, but ended up making it worse by implementing the vast point differences

Somehow they managed to drop the value of EDs owned by lower progression players. Same price to buy, but worth a lot less..

@KabamDORK can we clarify whether a match that’s won will award points for both winning and completing? I know it’s not typically that way but figuring out what this entails is…a lot.

This is correct, a win will get both the completion and win points.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this plays out. I'm anticipating a pretty slow start to the event, as obviously nobody is in the GC earning those bonus points at the start of the season. So will be interesting to see how the community reacts to that.
