These Realm events prove just how selfish our player base is

This is what happens when you have spent years and years promoting game play that is "every man for himself."
There has seldom been a cooperative or communal attitude in forums, why should it suddenly manifest itself in game play for an event that really only benefits players with multiple accounts?
How many players have been battered with "git good!" And now you want their help?

You can tell who, in this thread, returns their shopping carts and who doesn’t.

Yes, because playing a mobile game is the best way to analyse real life behaviours.
Yes, how people behave when there’s comparably little on the line is a small indication of how they tend to behave when even more is on the line.

--- if we make it to 1 billion that's just 2/3 that will be 66% 🤷🤷 not even 70% 😂😂

The milestones past one billion are clearly stretch goals. If they added milestones out to ten billion would you say reaching a billion was only getting to 10%? What if they added milestones to a hundred billion.

What if they just said "if the player base reaches a milestone the game will add more automatically" so there are now infinite milestones. Where are we now? Zero?
Which is why rewards should ne progression based. The milestomes past 1B are stretch rewards... Why are Valiant players tied to 10 milestomes full of stuff we are not interested and then hope for a stretch?
That's a completely separate issue from the one I was responding to. The question of whether rewards should be progression tiered or not is a way more complex issue than the question of whether a milestone is a stretch goal or a targeted goal.
Its really not, you said the rewards past the Titan Crystal are a stretch, they are a stretch because a lot of lower progression players don't have an incentive to play past 5k, which also makes other players to not have an incentive because they already know the numbers are a stretch. 1K or 5K Titan shards lose value for an UC or Cav, what is their incentive at all? Grab a few shards to open a crystal in 5 months if not more?...
The Titan Crystal should be a UC, Cav or even TB stretch and the shards a Paragon and Valiant stretch.

That's not why they are stretch goals. Everyone wants to describe the events in terms of their own personal experience, but the realm events are collaborative events across the entire playerbase. Five hundred thousand players doing one match is more important that everyone in GC doing ten. Realm events are about participation as much as they are about incentivizing pushing past goals.

Two hundred thousand players pushed past the maximum possible personal reward in the crystal cleanse realm event. Players reached tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of crystals. And yet, if everyone else just opened the dozens of crystals they were earning every day, they would have collectively done more and catapulted the entire playerbase past one billion.

Given a magic wand that either brainwashes the top players to push super hard, or just gets everyone else off the bench and doing a few more matches a day, I would pick the latter, because that would be far more productive.

That's not to say that the top grinders aren't themselves important. That's the whole point. Everyone is important in the realm events. But this constant focus on more rewards so players push harder and harder is, at best completely misplaced, and at worst, completely counter productive.

If you were right they wouldn't have made an objective for Brian to open the eggs.
Kabam Crashed said we were on pace considering the people in GC; if we were on pace why do we get 100 million points gifted?
If we are working as a Realm, everyone working together why are lower people that never get to GC scoring less points for the same currency?...
The event is flawed. There is no incentive for a UC or Cav player to buy more marks to score over 5K points specially when they are scoring less due to their inability to advance in the ladder. If EVERYONE was important why do you make it so hard on people who have 10-1 Lose/Win ratio go thru extra obstacles?
I said it in many posts. Road to crypt ALL PARAGOJS working together. This realm events are far from it, and the estimated milestone numbers are ridiculous.

Both those questions have easy answers, if you understand what realm events are even about.

So many people keep asking: what's in it for me to do more than the minimum. Realm events are for the people who don't need an answer to that question.

If you understand that, then the purpose of the eggs was obvious. The reason behind the bonus points is obvious. Realm events are not there to encourage gameplay. They are community events. Solo events encourage players to play the game - in the dark, by themselves, tapping on a screen.

Realm events, as anyone who has played MMOs would know, are about the meta game. They are about the community doing community things while playing the game. Brian understood that, and that's why he milked that for all it was worth. Kabam understands that, which is why they aren't saying a word about bonus points. They created a fiction, and they are standing by it.

Why do we get bonus points? Because of people like you, constantly questioning whether the realm events are worth it, or achievable. The points are there to counteract negative sentiment. I would bet money that if Kabam held the BG blitz event IN SECRET telling none of the players it was actually happening, we'd hit the one billion milestone or come within a hair of it. If we just did what we normally do, we'd get there. ANNOUNCING the event, which is the whole purpose of the events existing, bring out the people willing to play along, and they also bring out the negative people who purposefully or otherwise try to bring it down. What kabam underestimated was how big that group was.

Realm events test the character of the playerbase, because they are about the playerbase. Battlegrounds was doing perfectly fine all by itself. It doesn't need more incentivization to get people to play it. Its probably the most popular thing in the game now. And anyone who thinks Battlegrounds needs Realm events should have an answer to the question: what happens when it ends? Realm events are going to move on. Battlegrounds are still going to be here.

Realm events are incentives, but it actually surprises me how few people seem to know what they are incentivizing. It isn't game play. Game play is secondary. Next month Realm events are going to be focusing on some other part of the game. But every Realm event incentivizes the same thing. Community engagement.

But not everyone has the head gear to participate.

If its a realm event and everyone was equal, everyone should be scoring the same. Specially with the same currency.

PantherusNZ when he realises not everyone treats this game like a job/second life just because he does. People have lives (shocking, I know). Get over it. I have already put up 2k points, and I'll be hitting 5k points for sure. But I know that we might not reach the final milestone and that's okay because not everyone can spend time on this game

Lol, I work full time and have 2 kids. I play this game very casually and am in a retired alliance because I long ago got sick of the grind. I stopped playing twice for a year or so at a time. What a stupid assumption.

People are busy, don't like battlegrounds, don't have time, don't have the roster, just don't want to... All entirely valid.

I'll spell it out again for people like you for whom reading comprehension is severely lacking.

The issue is people who normally play BGs, saw the realm event, and decided "screw this, I'm not helping out because I can't see how it benefits me enough"
You can whine about it all you want. It is completely okay for people to not want to invest time into something, especially if they don't think it benefits them. It is as simple as that. If you really want the rewards, you are free to go above and beyond to put up as many points as you can. Stop trying to guilt trip people into contributing. Its pathetic.

Yes, how people behave when there’s comparably little on the line is a small indication of how they tend to behave when even more is on the line.
I think making these kinds of assumptions about people because of a single decision in a mobile game is incredible dumb, actually.

    I like this comment.
I return my shopping cart,..( even if it’s a long walk pain in the ass). I hold the door for folks,..and when an old lady asks me to reach for something on the top shelf of a grocery store,..i do just that,..and with pleasure. Even after a long hard day at work slamming together a new house build,..i still will show respect.
    But for a mobile game,..joined with people behind a screen that i don’t even know,..let’s just say,.,i don’t give a ****.
    W comment.

I think it proves there’s a small percentage of the player base wanting to grind for solo rewards and a high percentage that will just wait for mass generic rewards. There is simply no incentive for the majority

Someone's salty. It was a test. Kabam will adjust future ones based off of the test event.
