Early Look: New Alliance Wars Maps - Discussion Thread

Hey Everybody!

We've got another Early Look for you all! This time, we're introducing brand new Maps for all Tiers of Alliance Wars!

We recently ran a Beta for Alliance Wars that featured a number of different Updates to the Mode, and our Beta Players offered us a wealth of feedback. We’ve parsed the data and feedback that we collected, and want to give you all a glimpse into our plans moving forward.

In our Beta, we updated the map and also introduced a new feature called “Defense Tactics”. The Map update introduced a new layout and new Buffs, while Defense Tactics allowed Alliance Leadership to choose a Global Buff to apply to the Map, which allows for Defenses to be more customizable and setup in a more meaningful way.

The feedback we received was that these two major changes together were quite jarring, and that it was too much all at once. We agree with this sentiment so we have decided to stagger the release of the Map update and the release of Defense Tactics (currently scheduled for Season 11).

Do people even read? Lol.
They do. And they have stated that while kabam said they want rewards to increase with these defense tatcits in season 11, season 10 is already seeing an increase of difficulty but nada on rewards. That is why people are upset.

This is an "Early Look". A heads-up into some of the changes that are coming, much the same as the Early Look at the AQ changes, in an effort to be transparent about what's coming. Something people always demand, but don't often recognize.
Unless I'm totally mistaken, there will be an Announcement sometime close to the changes that breaks down Rewards and other things.
Rewards have been outdated ever since the AQ change. The fact they plan on running another season with pout changing them shows they are out of touch.

I'm talking about Season 6, which is already explained in the Thread, and commented on.

People are saying they're not increasing the Rewards which is not true.

No, they are correctly pointing out that the AW difficulty will go up for season 10 with no increase in rewards.

Increasing the difficulty a lot without buffing the rewards is just poor...

They've being doing that in UC EQ for over a year now. It used to be just 1 lane per map had linked nodes, now they have just 1 lane that doesn't. Rewards are unchanged.

Anything else is besides the point. In my opinion, the rewards needed to be updated regardless of difficulty, a map update, an added mechanic or anything else for that matter. They are simply outdated and way too low for the effort. They could be doubled and still not be as exciting as they were when war seasons was released originally. I'm shocked at this decision. Leadership in my alliance will discuss it, but I'm not confident we'll participate. Which is disappointing because war had always been one of my favorite game modes previously. I feel like the game mode has gone from something competitive and exciting, with appropriate reward for your effort to something that people will only participate in begrudgingly because they need loyalty to do AQ.

We are talking about season 10. There is no reward increase for season 10. Your comments are pointless at this time. Please direct yourself out of the conversation.

I think they mean no immediate rewards boost with changes. Changing the map to be harder for a season for the same rewards is not really appropriate.

We're talking about the new Maps and upcoming changes to War. For which the Rewards will increase with Defence Tactics in Season 11. I know what we're here discussing. I'm not leaving, sorry.

There are more "mini-bosses", but not all of them have strong Buffs on them (nodes 15, 18, 20, 37, 41, 43, 44, 46, 47 don't have the big boosts found on other mini-boss nodes), and you will no longer be on your own to take them down.

Ok kabam here is my feedback. For the life of me, i can not simply understand your reasoning for delyaing the rewards update till seson 11 when season 10 is already an increase in difficulty simply due to a new map layout with an increased amount of mini bosses and new nodes. If anything we should be getting a rewards increase with season 10 AND season 11.

I guess I'll continue to not care about AW until they update the rewards.

I imagine my alliance isn't the only one who is already doing no item use wars, and I imagine much more will do the same when they again raise difficulty without touching the rewards.

18 minis? This map is ~40% bosses now. And then the tactics coming too. The rewards will need to be like 5x the current rewards to make AW relevant again IMO.

I do kinda think a reasonable person can come to the same result Kabam did.

1. Roll out beta with 2 new changes, map and defense tactics, defense tactics being the grand new feature, map changes have happened before.

2. Beta players say its too much change too fast

3. Adjust release to consecutive seasons.

4. Increasing rewards, and then rolling out new feature later would be weird, and we'd like to just increase rewards once, so lets save that for season 11.

I think its a pretty reasonable thought process, but some token reward increase in season 10 would have made this gone over better.

2 extra war season crystals in each tier would make this a lot more palatable as a buffer between season 9 and season 11.

I bet you that this is like every time kabam releases something. kabam thinks the difficulty is the same, and players who actually play against these nodes strongly disagree. i bet you there is an increase in difficulty, you guys either don't want to admit it or don't play in hard enough tiers to realize it.

Then you clearly don’t have whats best for the player base on the front of your mind otherwise you would have have increased rewards. Whether you think the increase will be big or small in difficulty you should have done the right thing and bumped up the rewards even if it was just a little bit. But enough the community would have seen that you cared about us.

I think most would just take all of the changes at once(Map and tactics) AND the rewards bump. I’d rather struggle with the learning curve for better rewards next season and be versed in season 11. Delaying the rewards out to season 11 is too far. Just drop all the changes and change the rewards in season 10.

This coupled with the recent AQ announcement saying rewards changes to AW first it just looks like we have no increases coming anytime soon.

But the problem is nobody below plat tier wants to do the effort required as is for the current rewards, its just not worth it. So why would be want to learn and adapt to a whole new map for the same rewards not worth playing the current map for? It's like you guys don't even read your own forums and if you do you literally just blow off everything that isn't GW going on about how everything is amazing and just keep pushing stuff nobody wants. AW is a complete afterthought at this point and I can say my ally and many like us won't even participate now. We went from mid-high gold 1 to silver over the course of season 9 because nobody cares.

I never said everything was amazing. I clarified that a change to the Rewards is coming. The fact is, we've had many iterations to the Map that didn't involve changing the Rewards. It's not a new concept, just a new Map. While it may be time to revisit the Rewards, it's worth pointing out that it's being done, but they will come with Season 11, along with more significant changes. Changing the Map doesn't necessarily warrant new Rewards every time. It all depends on the degree of difficulty that increases. Over time, fair enough. The game evolves.

I mean, it's pretty straight forward to line up node by node from the existing map to the new one and see that it is unambiguously more difficult.
