So, there’s literally never been any restriction on champs for story mode, and with a week notice, they remove 80-90% of rosters from participation? Even if you want to look at 5/50 and higher champs, for many players, more than half their eligible champs are gone.
There has been fierce gates in Act 1/2 iirc. Like some paths require you to have a Black widow or Thor in your team. Take a look at the Classic mode of Ultron’s Assult. It’s been there since the start of the game.
Requiring BW or Thor isn’t as fierce of a gate as you make it seem when there are 2*, 3* and 4* variants of those champions to choose from. Also act 1 and 2 only required class gates. Act 4 had champion gates like spidey and colossus
From everything that Kabam has written, it sure seems like the main motivating goal here is to quickly generate $$$.
Kabam can't talk about their Disney contract, but for this to be sprung on the community like it has been, it sure seems like something drastic has changed.
For all we know, Disney could have had a 1000% increase on royalty payments, and now, Kabam is scrambling to generate those funds, and Kabam can't say that this is the main reason for the way they are changing things so quickly.
We all know that the stated reasons for the changes are pretty much rubbish any way you look at it, saving people from content that is "too difficult" for 4*s is just absurd.
To generate $$ quickly, they have to limit the usefulness of champs people already have, and they have done that by limiting champs to 5*s or higher.
This alone won't generate enough $$$, so the next step is to introduce a Cavalier crystal which has a very small chance at a 6*, but, it is still a chance at it. This will get people spending a bit more.
But, that still isn't enough, so they now must introduce a 5* Basic arena, and since everyone is now forced to go for 5* champs, arena scores for this are going to skyrocket, and people will be forced to pay to keep refreshing them. It wouldn't be shocking to see these scores reach 50M+ rivaling the featured 5* champ as people scramble to, once again, build up their roster.
The last step in getting more cash is to turn up the offer machine.
I wouldn't be shocked to see ads coming as well, hopefully, they will be static version that you can just swipe away, but, it sure looks like this is the direction they are headed.
The champ restrictions have no creativity. If the challenge is too hard for four stars, have the players find out through exploration- it still costs energy and sometimes items. Kabam you need to do something interesting which creates game excitement. Not lay a brick wall. Very boring and reads as greed for the sake of greed. The responses have been lacking from your representatives, failing to actually listen to the overwhelming concern. At the very least, start your brick wall restriction for 6.2, so players can prepare.
The best thing as a consumer that you can do is stop spending money on the product or service until they fix the issue. Voice concern, but ultimately not spending creates most impact. That’s how these companies operate. Vote with your wallet. These forums obviously don’t mean much to kabam, but if profit margins start decreasing exponentially then someone has to answer to someone.
Kabam has been discouraging players as of late- uncreatively restrict champs with no warning for act6, blind eye to silent nerf or bug, not updating rewards from years ago for completion, and very poor offers for cash that don’t reflect the actual value of resources. Only way to send a message is stop spending cash and rally others to do the same. That’s really your best route for change.
And it just came to me @Kabam Miike@Kabam Vydious what about you keep the gate but the rng is taken out, it would balance things, you would give access to all champs and each champ of the 5* variety would have a cost to be bought in shards ie a 5* blue cyclops would cost 2500 5* shards, whereas a cg would go for 12k 5* shards
A similar thing could be done for all champs
If you do this then the frustation would be avoided bc we wouldnt depend on luck to have usable champs for the incoming challenges that require not skill, but the right champs
*Stares into the nothing, knowing all of this will be ignored*
@Kabam Miike so are you saying that in future content you are going to see 5 stars as an obsolete pile of trash and in future acts you are going restrict them as you are doing right now with the four stars, and if you are planing to restrict them for some paths in act 6 you are going to cause rage to the majority of the community and players

Please no one respond back to this comment... you have won for sure my friend! Couldn't break it down any better than that in a lifetime lol seriously though... SALUTE TO YOU!
I agree! Kabam has done well with making it easier to get rank up resources and 5* shards, plus there are so many OP champs and synergies to make monthly and existing content easier. When you have Youtubers destroying content in a day or so, it's hard to create content that challenges this set of players as well as cater to growing players. I think with this being a piece of static content that players can progress to is a good business decision.
We now see we wont be able to bring in any thing less than a 5* champ, but is this worth all the uproar we have seen?
Also there has been talk of putting a 5* restriction.
I call BS on that one, mate.
Mike posted that 6.2 will have champion specific restrictions requiring x number of 5 and x number of 6*a required to do lanes as well has class specific requirements. He has not responded to the question of whether both of these restrictions will be on the same lanes at the same time
what do you mean 'is it worth the uproar'? There are so many interactive fights in MCOC like Dorm, Electro, Magik that require specific champs to counter them and Act 6 will have stacked version of these.
I think with this being a piece of static content that players can progress to is a good business decision.
its an awful business decision, people with teams full of 5* r5s and 6* r2s will use less resources than people that have to use 4* champs, so it makes no sense locking out 4* champs, other than trying to force them in to having to spend even longer in game, because they are slowing progress and causing an even larger gap between the top players and middle
Knocks out alot of skilled ftp players who dont have crazy good 5* 6* rosters who've completed everything else. They also gonna limit it further by making some of it to where you have to have so many 6*s on your team. Unless your insanely good or pay alot your not gonna have that many good 6*s
I'm sure if they have completed everything, then they have a good roster or at least enough money to push through Act 6. I look at this as a challenge for the whales and hard grinders, not the average joe that decides to use an OP synergy or champ to run through it.

Completed everything else? Like 100% act 5, lol and variant? Without a single good 5/65? Sure thing.
It's safe to assume that the exclusion of 4* champs will directly correlate with the new standard of difficulty that will be set by this new endgame oriented piece of content.
Therefore the safest and most rational conclusion is:
If you feel directly restricted by the exclusion of these champs, your roster isn't ready to tackle this piece of content.
Same with lol. Same with variant.
Seriously, I've seen players jump on the bandwagon that aren't even uncollected yet. At least try to keep it real, folks.
You can complete all of that content with 4*s you don't need 5*s and 6*a to 100% complete any of that. Many did lol with a 4* sl and variant is only able to be completed by some with 4*s because the rng has not given them counters to content in 5* and above. Saying a players profile is lacking because of bad rng has zero bearing on whether they have the skills and determination to do act 6 if they aren't being penalized by this gate

What people are forgetting is all the other content that can still be completed, even if nothing more than a new event and side quest every month. Folks are complaining over new content that have enjoyed everything released up to this point.

That doesnt matter. Completing Act 5 100% gives you 4 5* Champs and it takes a while to do so you get additional rewards from monthly events. Same with Variant and LoL gives even more 5 stars. If you rush trough act 5 and ignore monthly events then its your fault if you dont have a big roster

no its not limited by stars, we can still attempt all other parts and get better practicing or even buy our way through it

That's funny I've seen guys going thru lol and variant and all that with use of 4*s. Apparantly your not skilled enough or dnt believe ppl are skilled enough to do it but there are
Not that everyone may have the skill to finish Act 6 with 4 stars, but daredevils like Seatin who do 3 star Master mode challenge etc should have an option.
Also, I am sure Kabam hasnt thought this through, or hasnt crunched numbers, I feel less people gamble away money units on their filthy grandmaster crystals, and more people would spend on energies, boosts, health and revive pots etc. if they are close to reaching a valuable milestone.
Limiting 4* means some champs such as Thor, SW etc. won’t be available since they’re not available as 5* yet. Perhaps they will be by then. I’m still working on 100% for Act 5 and don’t expect to have to do much with Act 6 for a while although I do have many 5* and 3 6*.

They very much could, and at some point likely will. It rather dampens any desire to get new champs and rank them up knowing you may not be able to use them in any new content... and if you are at that point you likely don't need them for old content you have completed.. or events/challenges.. unless those start coming with restrictions as well.
Might as well just charge one time fees to unlock quests at this point.

yup if you are a millionaire, have you not seen the nodes?
I find it funny that kabam sees how unpopular this ban is with the community. But yet will not change anything, they are just gonna let it come out and let all of this die down. What happened to listening to the players? Being more open? Huge step in the wrong direction.
