Can we get the old style of featured five stars back? It's so hard to target a specific champ, even in the current features, that it gets incredibly disheartening to open crystals. I've been hunting for Wasp and Torch for over a year, went for 15 or so of their featured crystals and didn't get them. I went for their dungeon crystals and didn't get them (got Captain America duped and Gulliotine duped instead). I've opened up well over a hundred and eighty basic five stars at this point and still nothing, but I've managed to pull double and triple dupes on other champs like Doom, Elektra, Blade, and Namor. If we had the old featured crystals again, it would be so much easier and more rewarding to actually hunt for champions.
They've repeatedly said they don't want us to be able to target specific champs and that's the main reason they don't want a 5* basic arena. I'm not saying I agree with their stance at all but I think that a lost cause to push for
I remember they said they were working on a 5* basic arena when 6:1 came out and all the outrage about that happened still waiting on it
They've said multiple times in streams and interviews since that they want to add to RNG not reduce it and that the whole reason the featured 5* crystal was changed was to disallow targeting specific champs basically.
People have been playing the game presumably for 3-5 years by the stage we're discussing. The game is based on RNG. It always has been. The form and the rate of that RNG has changed over time, but it's still an RNG-based game. There is no graduating past RNG. Whether at Act 6, 7, or beyond, it's still an RNG-based game. The second you start discussing removing the RNG, you start discussing an entirely different game.

I don't think you know what sentiment you're arguing against. No one is saying, "Let's remove RNG completely." They are arguing that crystals have decreasing odds of a particular champ with each iteration of adding 2 champions per month, with at least 5 old and bad champ to the 6* pool. So, for example, if 2 new monthly champs turn out to be average, or below average, players not have even less odds to pull a good champion compared to before, without opening a single crystal.
One way to fight this, is to no longer add old bad champions.
Another way is to bring back a similar to blade featured champion crystal, or something in between. No one is arguing, let's go one extreme or the other- 100% RNG, or no RNG whatsoever.
As content progresses, the pool of champions that could handle each scenario (with 7+ paths each) dwindles. That combined with the high variance, growing bad pull variance, waiting for specific champions, and opening a 6 star crystal every 2-4 months, is one of the causes of frustration to the community.

Rng will always be in the game, but ways to mitigate it like more access to nexus crystals would keep it there without it being so harsh, and we are asking for new content to be less reliant on a Tiny pool of champs because the level of rng coupled with that specificity means it’s near impossible to get through it without massive unit or money usage, and the while waiting until you have options’ argument with the level of rng means you could literally be waiting years

So you're not arguing against RNG, just not adding "old" and "bad" Champions. What's the point of having RNG if it always gives you something you want? Pulling something you don't want is just a part of it. We all go through it.

You can also increase the amount of Shards available. More pulls means more possibilities. I'm also not opposed to the Nexus idea, and I've already commented on that. I was responding to the idea the game shouldn't adhere to the direction of RNG because people don't want that. After 5 and a half years, it should be apparent that it's an RNG game.

I don’t get why they want to move more into the RNG when the majority of the negative feedback and players’ frustration stem from the game’s insistence on putting massive RNG with everything. RNG is fine but having RNG in literally every aspect of the game and not giving us way to lessen it is killing the game. We’re not asking to get rid of RNG just to lessen it.
The 5* Incursions crystals have limited possibilities but are still RNG based - why not just introduce a whole bunch of 5* crystals that have ten champs in them? Or twenty? It would let you semi-target a champ you wanted (good for players) but you still might pull whatever trash they put in.
I think if Kabam simply stop being as stingy with 6 star shards and we open 4 to 5 a month eventually we will get good champions. I have about 110 5 stars personally. No way all of them suck.

that’s a bit much
If you want the game to be stuck in 2018 so be it but all of the rest of us would like more shards.

That's all good and well to want but the way games like this work is, 6* shards become way more available and then rank resources become more available and then bam you're starting all over with 7*s. The faster we get more from the game the faster it loses value and is replaced by the next tier
I still don't understand the obsession a portion of the player base has with 6*s currently. Unless you're competing in top 5-10 AQ spots, they are barely even needed currently.
It's nice to have good ones sure, but a VERY small percentage of players actually need them

Well, that I see the origin of. It started when they were announced, and people swore off anything under a 5*. Then the Gates heightened that, and the very narrow Fights like Sinister and Champion in Act 6 just drove it even further. Of course, that's a byproduct of everyone and their dog plowing through Story now that there are some OP Champs to do it with and many, many videos on it. If I'm being totally honest, I think too many people are doing it too easily now up until Act 6, and their Accounts aren't even developed enough. Not necessarily the people who have been around a long time, but many have started and gone through Act 5 in a matter of months. That's a problem for a number of reasons, and that rush to push through is making people impatient to build their Rosters. Those of us that have been around for years, at least some of us, know it takes time to build. That doesn't stop after a certain point. We're always building. It takes time. The ease of Story now has people thinking they shouldn't have to wait.
Yes they said they wanted to steer more into this and more into rng elements and not make you able to target specific champs. Combine this with specific champ “gates” and you’ve got a money maker. Is this in the favor of players and fun... well no but it is there game and they can do this.
Yes it is to drive crystals sales and more value in these 2019 champ crystals and featured cavs. No player ever was thinking prior to 2019/2020 “you know what we need, more rng in this game”. The rng was already enough before and without champ specific gates. Pools got bigger and requirements became super focused and champion specificl. Combined with removal of chance to focus on champs outside of spending and one shot on a dungeon crystals(or incursion same thing to me really but with fancy buffs).
Based on feedback and the general comments from the majority, NO this is not the right direction for the player base and WE do not like it. It is the reason for a lot of the frustration. Really there is no need to steer even harder into the rng element as they said they want to do this year.
We need to steer back out of what 2019 did to rng. And kabam needs to acknowledge while the champion pool getting larger is great there are some aspects that are actually not good for the player as the pool grows.
I mean we have crystals that have crystals now on 2020. This isn’t champion based but t we actually have crystals with rng that you open and get another rng crystals. I mean come on that’s absurd.
Suggestion- Why not make feature cavs 100 units instead of 300? Then your average , non whale player can buy more and have a better shot at new champs ?
Also increase the chance of pulling a 6* feature to 1% (.10% is pretty ridiculous) and increase the 5* chance to 2%?
This seems fair based off of all these complaints about new champs being nearly impossible to get
Are there any plans to revisit old content and tweak it? I've hit a roadblock on 6.2.5. That quest is scummy beyond belief. I've run all the way through Act 6, but exploration of the mordo stage is cash grabby. Not fun

Exploring this is when I decided I’d rather not bother with exploration for now. The champ and node combination here take a true money grab approach and is just straight painful to play. I hit a path or 2 every once and a while now because I found this just so not fun to play. Can I do it yes. Do I have the champs yes. Was is it enjoyable no. Plus rewards have stuffed me so much lately only drive to finish act 6 is just to finish it and have it done which stopped motivating me at this quest because of how not fun the game design was.

I see many disagrees on this but I think it is absolutely correct. People are advancing to quickly in the story mode using just a handful of champs. It was the reason 12.0 nerfed a handful of champs. The problem is after 12.0 and the great balancing kabam released champs like corvus or ghost that were overpowered beyond what was nerfed in 12.0. Champs like these and a handful more allowed players to easily advance through the early story mode. Add to this the fact that kabam then reduced the energy needed and difficulty of early story content as well as increasing the availability of rankup resources to new players and you end up with content like act 6. In order to counter these new op champs listed as beyond God tier they created content with gates and niche fights requiring even more specific champ requirements. 12.0 was supposed to open up the use of more champs from our rosters but some bad decisions on kabam's part have forced them to narrow down the characters we use even more. I don't know how they fix this but by creating content like act 6 and beyond they are killing the enjoyments of the story mode aw and forcing people to spend to get these handful of champs or remain roadblocked.

Think about how can be demotivating if you don’t even have the right champions...
Free to play or not the current state of game is not in a good place for the majority of the players. Sure there are players that still love whaling out and some free to play players that can do any challenge, but that doesn’t make up the majority of the players in this game.
Many People like me and others who are trying to finish Act 6 are extremely frustrated. It’s costly, it’s not fun, it makes you want to quit and go do something else. From a business perspective that’s not a good place to be. When your customers, which in this case are players, feel there’s nothing more to enjoy then they leave. When they leave that hurts the bottom line and when enough leave that kills the business (MCOC).
Issues: - Roster restricted, - incredible damage where anything less than PERFECT play you lose - Costly, power through with units - Frustrating to MOST players - Story modes should be fun and engaging so people that enjoy the story enjoy the completion - RNG is too high of chance to not succeed. Champion pools are so high it’s nearly impossible to obtain GOOD champions and not roster trash or meme champs - Lack of resources to keep people engaged in building strong rosters Gold and ISO specifically. The required gold to rank up champions in insane at 5/65 and 6* champions. - Too much non avoidable damage and much of it IF you don’t have “that” champion - AW and AQ are very stressful. It’s a requirement for most to get resources needed, but adds stress and can cause arguments between alliance members.
The list goes on and on. We have been playing this game over 5 years and it’s getting more frustrating by the month instead of being more engaging and enjoyable. When a game is in the age of lifecycle that’s this game is generally people play it to have fun. Challenging and fun is a great combo. It’s the key to sustainability for a game. It’s what the great games that have been around for 10+ years all have in common.
Many of us love this game just for the Marvel champions and trying to COLLECT them all, some stay because of their alliance families, some just to pass time with, so we want to keep it going, but not in its current state.
I’ve been reading this thread for the past few days and whilst I agree with a lot all of our words are falling on deaf ears... we have seen it time and time again they ‘listen’ and ‘want to make things right’ but that just ends up them handing out ‘compensation’ and not actually making any changes!!
I believe that the basic pool should be split up like incursion crystals and do them through their respective timelines with the older champs being less value than the newer champs with a maximum of 24 champs per crystal (1 year worth of champs)
I believe DT should be completely taken out, each fight within AW has its own technical node and I believe that should be enough (just like it was when they changes the AW maps around at the start) I really enjoyed war back then as did a lot of other players
AQ is where it is at and with the big emphasis being on prestige the top alliances will always battle it out for best rewards and the rest of us will fall where we fall, I’m fine with that
Majority of act 6 was a joke, I have completed all content except AOL and felt that a lot of the node combinations were just a cash grab unless you have the top 5 champs to get you through content or the synergy champs (I.e heimdell/ang synergy for sinister fight) to buff up your strongest... this was ultimately where the backlash came from with the 5*/6* gates... players want to use their 4* only as synergy but we’re not allowed which I thought was wrong
Kabam have a great game here and it would be a shame for them not to take on board some of the ideas given in this thread but as I mentioned at the start I really don’t think MAJOR changes are coming, only changes that Kabam believe are enough to keep us quiet
Seriously, who still believe Kabam is going to change anything in our favor ??? I Wonder what Will Come Out of this post in a few days,.....weeks.......months....... Most probably nothing besides bitterness 😑
