If perfect blocks are such a big thing then where's sunspot kd. He doesn't even need apoc to do this.
Because Sunspot is much less reliable. Think of it like this, with 3 criteria 1) How long the champion has to perfect block 2) What needs to happen for the champion to perfect block 3) Are there any outside factors that can stop the perfect block
1) Sunspot has 5 seconds after basic attacks to perfect block, and 14 seconds after his SP1 to perfect block. Gambit has a few seconds at the start of the fight where he builds up his charges and then it is infinite until charging a heavy.
2) Sunspot needs to parry, gambit just needs to hold block
3) Sunspot can be stopped by a) running out of incinerates and b) if the opponent is incinerate immune. Gambit is only stopped by using his specials, and then you have 16 seconds to use them (while prowess lasts) before you can build back up to 100% perfect block. During this time you will be using a lot of specials, so little time for the opponent to use a special or attack anyway. Both champions will be affected by unblockable etc equally.
Gambit has a better perfect block in all aspects
1)Sunspot can perfect block for the whole fight if you use his rotation properly. 2) Parrying is one of the basic techniques of mcoc. So it's not like most people don't know how to parry. 3)You can keep your flare states low to maintain your incinerates and perfect block throughout the fight. For incinerate immunes I agree but you shouldn't be using sunspot against them. And sunspot has damage of a million suns so he will finish fights much quicker than gambit. So less chance of mess ups. But yeah solely for perfect block gambit is better. But you need more than just perfect block for most fights.
I wasn't saying any of that to say sunspot is bad or can't perfect block. Your point was that why isn't sunspot there because he can perfect block. I'm just pointing out that objectively gambit is better in every way for perfect blocking. That's why KD rates him so much.
Sunspot can perfect block, but not as well or reliably as gambit. Yeah, people can parry, yeah people can keep incinerate up. But if you don't parry, and if you don't keep incinerate up, then you can get screwed. And gambit is much better at that.
Yes gambit can perfect block better than sunspot. But that doesn't change the fact that sunspot can even do it. So by the logic of kd he should have kept sunspot as well below gambit. But I am also saying that only perfect block doesn't make gambit a top 2 mutant.
Else I think I can agree with you, most of the champs are difficult to compare, so it is pointless to fight over some champs' placement within the top 5.
Thank you, and I understand the arguments for all of those. I think Venom is great and is easily top 5 in the variants, but idk about story content. I personally value Horseman Cable over Colossus because both do insane damage with a synergy (Cable with Apoc, Colo with Omega), but I value Cable’s DOT and ability to regenerate lost health a bit more than Colossus (though he has the immunities going for him). On Sentinel, I feel that his ramp up is too tedious personally, and I’d almost always rather choose a champion like Warlock to do his job (immunities and heal control). For Starky, I value his control over the fight very highly, as the long taunt debuffs are very powerful. He also consistently hits very hard.
Every single person who’s made their own top 5 lists in this thread have been piled with disagrees. As someone mentioned earlier, this game is all about opinions, which is great. Imagine everyone agreed on everything, that would not be fun. Just because someone doesn’t agree with your opinion doesn’t make them a troll, you can disagree but don’t attack them, it’s a game to have fun after all.
@Sarvanga1_ Sunspot’s perfect block is great but it’s temporary and requires quite an aggressive play style. You need to make sure his incinerates and charges don’t fall off, or else you lose it all. With Horseman Gambit, you can just sit back and perfect block everything all day. I respect your opinion tho and understand why you’d choose Sunspot over Gambit, as Sunspot hits much harder.
He has an aggressive playstyle man. So it's not that much of a hassle. But if you choose gambit over sunspot that's fine for me as well. We should play with those champs which we regard more.

Well, 95% of players agree on Quake's position at least lol

This debate is worthless, both sides make a good point, can’t devalue a champion for specific nodes that counter them, but node combinations do come into play, which makes gambit less practical for the content he would be good for.
