the controversy is that it uses the word "removed" when it doesn't even activate

yes, we know how much you dislike youtubers and anyone that watched them.
here he was judged for his ability as per how he worked in the players hands. regardless of whether you are a youtuber or not.
the issue is not that they changed him. the issue is that they did it without telling anyone, deleting two threads that raised the issue, and then seek to respond

It can't activate if the Damage being taken is what removes it. Honestly, it's loop-hole fishing.
Can we get our sig stones back? The wording of the signature ability makes it seem like as long as it’s not activated he can take a SP3.
But why? The main focus of Herc was his damage. That's WHY everyone wanted him is because he's an offensive powerhouse. He's also a prestige champ as well so why would you want those removed?
Honestly, I read it as if there's an SP3 involved, no immortality. You're being KO'd during that animation and you don't have a chance to recover like you do on other Specials.
none of that matters. if you're going to change a champ, have the courtesy of giving the option of deciding to keep the sig stones or not. it's not for you to decide why a person ranks a champ.
it's not how you read it as. it was vague in the description, players saw him acting a certain way and decided that's how it should be since it does not explicitly contradict the kit
Hi folks, Hercules' Signature ability is currently working as intended in this case. We apologise that there was a bug before, but it has since been resolved by our team.
Please refer to Hercules' Champion Spotlight for the full description of his Signature Ability:
Signature Ability - Son of Zeus
- Once per fight when receiving damage that would result in a knockout, gain an Immortality Buff preventing death and making Hercules Unblockable for 9.00 seconds. Immortality is paused during personal Special Attacks or while landing Basic Attacks and is removed if struck by Special Attack 3.
That doesn't mean that the first SP3 should kill him.

I never said that at all. I enjoy some myself. I don't consider them the official source for information, and I go to the source. I also don't think blind faith and allegiance is healthy either, but I don't have any issues with YouTubers in general.

it's not loophole fishing. the game behaves differently on when things are applied for different champs. the only way to truly understand how it works is to actually try the champ

If it is removed by Damage from a Special 3, then whether it activates or not is moot. Even if it activates and is removed, the outcome is the same.

how would it activate and be removed during a sp3?

Very confusing and seems very disappointing on how this came to be.
1. The wording of the Signature ability is wrong IMO, it reads as if 'is removed if struck by Special Attack 3' it would have saved so much time to this situation if when they put him in July, with it read something like 'is removed if struck by or triggered by the lose of all health in a Special Attack 3' . Something that was clearer on its intent to not be a complete "get out of jail free card" as stated in the Spotlight. 2. On inspection on the August release notes i cannot see mentioned fixed an issue with Hercules immortality......etc . I have heard some rumour of kabam notifying people on it being a bug and would be changed. But im not finding anything concrete.
Im trying to get some idea from Kabam as to what went wrong here with Communication on the matter of this champ.

You're saying they changed him. Kabam is saying it was a bug. If it was a bug, seems to me it was, they didn't actually change him.
I agree with Rich in that it's probably not worded correctly honestly.

how would it activate and be removed during a sp3?
It's very simple actually. If the Damage is enough to take him to 1% for it to kick in, it activates. However, everything during an L3 falls under Damage taken from a Special 3, so it would nullify it immediately after. The bottom line either way is you can't tank an L3 with something that's canceled by an L3.
Super scummy to have the CCP shill a broken mechanic that is worded such that you can tank sp3 as long as you were not immortal already. So many whales are close to quitting this may be the final straw.

It wasn't worded that way at all.
Here is the wording
This wording while seeing how it works in the video would infer on sp3 it should work and only removes it if immortality is already triggered. Most of the people who I spoke to agree this was there understanding. They made a change with nothing in the notes, hyped a champ that worked a certain way as seen in the video and are changing it.
Right. So people thought he could tank an L3 and keep spamming L1s to keep it active. Does that not sound the least bit OP? Sorry, but that was an assumption. Not the wording. It's removed by L3 Damage, and as soon as it activates, you're taking L3 Damage. Nothing about that says it will activate after an L3.
This doesn't need to be a flame war. I think it's safe to say that Hercules' kit is ambiguously worded, and I agree with Rich and Demonz that it wasn't worded properly.
Know how I know that? Players of all levels fought Hercules every day for an entire month. Thousands of players inevitably tried to knock out Hercules with an SP3 only to see him survive and turn immortal at the end of the SP3.
... Not a single thread here complaining about "HERCULES IS BUGGED! I USED AN SP3 AND HE SURVIVED EVEN THOUGH THE SIG ABILITY SAYS THE SP3 SHOULD REMOVE HIS IMMORTALITY"
That to me is what makes it very clear that we are operating in gray land.
So - please save your passive aggression on the ability being clear... it is NOT clear, and it would just be good for Kabam to acknowledge the mis-step here. Not asking for items, not asking for compensation - asking for a genuine admission of fault and a way to fix this going forward.

I think that this is really poor communication, if the guy has been bugged for a month, given all the money and/or effort that people put to get him, this should have been communicated earlier. Moreover the way his signature ability is written does not imply that he should die from an sp3 if immortality is not active yet. With all the issues we have experienced this last past month you really cannot afford to be this shady and give people more reasons to quit.
People keep saying he was there a month like it means something. It's been a month of bugs, and this shouldn't be that much of a surprise. It's been fixed within the next Update to reflect the intended Abilities. If people questioned it, I didn't see anyone asking here, yet they're pointing out the ambiguity now, so that means there was some kind of awareness. Shade casts in all directions.
From the very beginning I acknowledged this could be a hotfix or it could be a bug. My point is that the description is not clear, and I think anyone who says that his description is crystal clear is just trying to stir the pot or is being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn.
I refer to the month of fighting Hercules because I genuinely DO think it means something - specifically, it means that his kit is ambiguous and I'd like Kabam to acknowledge that and fix these issues going forward. Many players lost units, items, and their temper fighting Hercules every single day, failing to knock him out with an SP3.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that when this player base feels cheated, they post about it on the forums. However, there wasn't a single post complaining that Herc's immortality was bugged, in a way that was harming the player base. That tells me AT A MINIMUM that there was enough ambiguity in his kit that players just shrugged and said "Oh well - I guess that means his immortality can kick in for the first time after an SP3".

I don’t use the forum often but I must say it’s pretty entertaining reading your absurd comments on basically every single topic. At this point I doubt anyone take you seriously so I would like to thank you for making me laugh every time I came across a post where you participate.
I see. So I'm not in total agreement, and you think making it personal is acceptable. Imma ignore that and talk about the topic. The number of times I've seen people jump on a bugged Champ and blame Kabam is not something I'd care to count. Could there be better communication? Always. That's something that's a growing process. However, communication goes both ways, and people scarcely mention something they're unsure of which they benefit from. They just wait for Kabam to sort it out after they jump. It's entirely possible to come here and verify before they invest all their resources into it. Holding them accountable is one thing. Taking responsibility is another. It's the difference between saying, "I misunderstood.", and "Kabam made me misunderstand.".
I think a good way of looking at this is to compare the wording to another champ that is known for the immortality mechanic: Immortal Hulk
When receiving damage that would knock out Hulk when gamma radiation is at or above 15%... gain an immortality passive, preventing death and becoming unblockable...
The key is both champs are worded as "receiving damage that would result in a knockout", even if its a SP3 that causes the intial knockout, immortality should kick in both cases. So either the description of Hercules needs to be modified and compensation delivered accordingly for such a change or otherwise its functionality should be the same as how Immortal hulk's immortaility triggers when caused by a knockout.
We apologise for any inconvenience and confusion caused. We have shared your thoughts and feedback with the team and they will look into some clarification for Hercules' Signature Ability description. For now, we confirm once more that Hercules is working as intended. Thank you for your understanding.
I guess there will be compensation for anyone that did any eq and side quest last month for fighting a bugged Hercules since an sp3 was supposed to kill him.
This x1000
Epic response. An entire month fighting a bugged boss that should have fallen with my first Sp3.
Kinda overly convenient that the bug wasn't removed when Kabam were the beneficiary.
This really has been the summer of pain. More so than I could have imagined
