I think some people are upset because their expectations were high and predictions were wrong. I’m disappointed, but not upset at all. Although I’m not buying any of the unit offers, they are not that bad in my opinion.
I’ll probably get multiple disagrees again. Hahaha.
The main problem isn't that the offers aren't back or not, I've played alot of other games and the common sense when an event happens and the playerbase likes, it usually becomes an annual thing, if that didn't happen, we should at least get an explanation why it didn't. They don't owe us and explanation and we don't own them any thing but that's the common sense. Instead of explanation we got a fourm troll reply ( which not everyone check), 24 hours before the event that it's not coming back without any reasoning without anything similar as a replacement
So which is it? They don't owe us an explanation or they don't?
Thrillerson isn't a troll, he's been around for years. Not liking the comment someone makes, doesn't make them a troll. The in-game message stated it would Deadpool offers and did not state there would be good offers like last year.
It still doesn't answer my question to you. What exactly do you want them to say that hasn't been said already?
Alright, I wanted an explanation why an event that was liked by 90% of the playerbase didn't comeback this year, what's the reasoning behind it. You'll now say they don't owe us an explanation and my answer to that is we're not in a court house no-one owes anyone anything, if they want to announce the EOS of the game next month they have the right to do so, so it's not about being forced to explain, it's about sharing details with the playerbase, specially when they're asking for it.
Thrillerson's post said they're doing something different. That's your answer and you're the one that already said they don't owe us an explanation.
So again, if they gave a reason already, what more do you need them to say?
But I saw nothing different, the unit and cash offers also the deadpool solo event all were presented last year, so where's that thing? Couldn't the answer be more clear, maybe you understood the answer, but check the comments here, the comments on FB, twitter or reddit. So I can easily say the majority is sharing the same concerns as me
The difference between last year and this year is the store is unit based vs gold based. Last year we could buy offers with gold.
Yes, the event was very positive for the players but there were complaints about not having enough gold or not being able to use other forms of currency. They did it differently this year as if you're buying the unit store offers, you can get the offers for units in the specialty store.
Was it something they needed to do? Maybe, maybe not. Last year the event was a complete surprise and this year we got a 3 day notice. The in-game message said there would be offers. Not gold offers.

I need to correct here by saying that last year there was units store as well, you can check it on YouTube as well, so the only difference as I said is they removed the gold offers -without replacing it with anything-, and honestly that's all I can say on the subject or else we'll be running in circles, you can have a different pov and I'm totally fine with that, and I can have mine to, at the end of the day you're not kabam I'm not kabam. We're both just sharing thoughts not facts, so everyone can see the way he wants

Yes, it's been stated 100 times the difference between this and last year is the gold offers. Thrillerson said they "were trying something new".
Will we get anything more in depth? At this point probably nothing more than an expansion on the original post. They'll take this feedback and maybe we'll see the gold offers in the store next time, if there's a next time.
A better description would then be "something different." Here are a few definitions from Dictionary.com. These don't line up with taking something away
1. of recent origin, production, purchase, etc.; having but lately come or been brought into being: a new book. 2. of a kind now existing or appearing for the first time; novel: a new concept of the universe. 3. having but lately or but now come into knowledge: a new chemical element.
I would have been super happy to support the game on this "holiday" if they didn't strip away the gold offers. Now they just want us to spend? pass.. there are 2-3 other "holidays" that are much better than this. Absolutely tone-deaf and terrible decisions by the suits.
Kabam this event sucked, please stop sending reminders trying to get people to participate in it. We get it you want money and kind find a good way to ask for it so you put out crappy d Al’s hoping someone will bite.
Think about it, would this outrage be happening right now if they announced there would be no gold deals a week ago properly through Jax or Miike like any other announcment? sure people would be upset but not this degree
The fact is, Kabam employees do not individually have the authority to release information prior to official announcements. There are people in charge of this stuff that incorporate marketing, and other factors into that. You can say "Kabam should have" but there's no person named Kabam. Kabam is a company. Kabam doesn't do anything. Individual employees do things. We say Kabam does things as a colloquialism, with the understanding that it is actually different people with different responsibilities and different speheres of authority, no one of which can necessarily do the things we think Kabam can collectively do. Mods have bosses, developers have bosses, and their bosses have bosses. And in every corporation, there are rules governing how information is released. You're not going to just demand more information from a company and have all the people working there decide to accommodate you.
Jax tried to warn us in August. Someone at Kabam used the Thrillson account to warn us again. Players like me were also warning. If that's not enough, if you need more, well, you aren't going to get it. You're not going to get 100% advance warning of everything. You'll sometimes get some warning. You'll get hints, and clues, and deductions. But Kabam is not going to open its marketing books for you to read. Nobody does that. Some stuff we're only going to officially know when it officially happens.
It is not like this is unique to Kabam. I've been playing online games since forever. I've had relationships with multiple developers and dev teams. Some of this stuff, not even the developers have any control over, because these decisions are not developer decisions. They are business decisions. And business decisions are made by business people who assume that many decisions they make will be loved, and many will be hated. Here's some inside ball that you can choose to believe, or not. You know what will happen to all this feedback? When it gets to the people who make these decisions, and they are told that this gold event not returning and not being actively announced as not returning far in advance caused player commotion? Its not going to tell them "oh, well, I guess we will have to change the way we run our business, what a revelation." It will be to tell the content developers "don't ever make such an event ever again that players fall in love with to the point where we lose control over our ability to decide whether to repeat it."
People like to toss out the "Business 101" term while knowing nothing about how businesses are actually run. This is how businesses are actually run. This is not a guess, this is not just my wild speculation. This is me saying if you ask me to make this bet with real cash with a hundred deve teams, I believe I'm going to win that bet in at least 90 of them. And it is me saying I'm aware of such things happening first hand.
Note: whether I have such first hand knowledge here is something I will not say while the game is still in operation. But I've seen it happen elsewhere.
And to the people who enjoy flagging disagree on posts just because they don't like them or the poster, consider this. I'm pretty sure the devs read my posts. If I'm just wrong, well, then won't I look the fool. But if all this is true, and people just knee-jerk flag it, that too will be feedback to them. It will remind them not to discuss topics like this publicly. And it will tell the business people (indirectly, because I doubt *they* read my posts) that the players don't understand their jobs, and thus their feedback on how to do it better is equally suspect.
So fire away. It won't hurt my credibility when I provide feedback. It'll probably reinforce it. The disagree flag is an ironic indicator. It doesn't judge the post. It judges the forums. When a nonsensical or factually incorrect post gets a lot of disagrees, it say the forums are smart enough to judge it so. When a post with factual information gets flagged, it says the opposite thing about the forums. But the content of posts is judged by the reader, not by the flags.
Agree 100% with the content of your comment. But it’s still a crappy event.
Dr. Zola
I wouldn’t say it’s not a problematic event. I would say the communication complaints are an albatross.
An join the debate the kabam mascot has..
Solid response from who knows they're already outmatched.
1. Use spell check. 2. You join every thread and belittle every single person here. Sometimes you have great points, most of the time you are insanely toxic. No one here is outmatched an you are naive if you think the bad handling of this event is nothing to complain of.
Spellcheck won't catch missing words. Just like you used "an" instead of "and". Also, "complain about" not "of".
Again, as I've already stated in this thread, they should have brought back the gold offers. But not liking the event or not liking a comment from an official personality of the forums (Thrillerson), doesn't mean they handled it badly. It's not like the in-game message explicitly stated there would be offers for gold. The community assumed it and is mad the event didn't have them.
Ill hand it to you, you do know when to dip out when you’ve been demonstrably proven wrong. I remember the nimrod argument we had and you knew to bow out when it was obvious I made you trip over yourself. People do need to learn when they’ve been proven wrong

I saw you said this many times. Just wanted to let you know that it’s thrillson and not thrillerson. Unless there is someone else known as kabam thrillerson.

Don’t give Demon Gas the time of day. He just doesn’t get it, Kabam dropped the ball and handled this very poorly, don’t be selling gold a couple weeks before an upcoming believed gold offer event and then 3 days before the event send a joke message there is going to be no gold offers.
It was never a regular aspect of the Event. It happened one year. The Redpool Events have always been a pay-to-opt-in Event, and that's always the topic of contention. Somehow it becomes an insult to people who are F2P.

Precisely, this event has always been this way until last year. The gold offers were "new" last year. So when Kabam Thrillson stated that "the dev team wanted to try something new" this year...WTF was new? The buy a redpool offers...not new. Crappy unit deals...not new. Pay for Redpool to enter specific Redpool-centric event...not new.
The insult to FTP players is a byproduct. The point is that according to their guy there was supposed to be some thing new and they didn't deliver on that.
Is old the new "new"? Is that the next illogical counterpoint?
We can be blasé about what was new, which there were some things new regardless of whether people found them impressive or not, but the response was still, no. There will be no Gold Offers. That's the reason people are upset.
If an Account named Kabam Veritas came on and said "We are clarifying the Gold Offers are definitely not coming.", the reaction would have been the same. If an Account named Kabam Sparkles said "Greetings Unicorns and Rainbows, there will be no pot of gold.", the reaction would have been the same. The bottom line is, people didn't like the news.
17 pages of comments and still no official response?
I'm not sure what response is needed. "Sorry that y'all don't like the event. No gold offers are forthcoming." I'm not a fan of the even myself and I was looking forward to the gold offers. But people keep asking for an official response. Other than acknowledging that people are disappointed what is there to say?
Comments
