What a way to celebrate 10 Years anniversary and leading up to 2 biggest spending events of the year.

    So far:-

Bad decision making with not rebalancing, IH, NTW and Serpent, while nerfing Kingpin.

Raid is a mess, one bugs after another, then a mess with compensation, then more mess on compensation, then more mess with IW (with no compensation). Just a team full of competent hey.

AI that make players players want to throw their phone through the windows. Sure, sure we are fixing it, sure it will take a long time because it is really hard, but im the meantime, why don't you enjoy the suffering players, a thank you for being patient package? naahhh.

BG celebration turn into grinding for your soul (even after re-tuning point system and intervention) and would make quite a few players quite the game mode for good. Great design Kabam team, good job.

But hey offer to buy champs seem to have no problem popping up. Spend time recruiting new players, sure they going to stick around with the current state of the same.

What a way to celebrate 10 years of the game.

Thanks goodness the nightmare have ended at least for this BG "celebration" anyway.

It's easy to make it sound bad when you ignore every good thing they've done this year

They have done a lot of good things but the state of the actual fighting is the worst that it’s ever been in my memory. Then on top of that we have a flood of defenders that feel cheap rather than interactive puzzles to solve. And they are introduced when people can simply just buy them, so they are everywhere quickly, and you really can’t avoid fighting them, just everywhere all the time. Cheap feeling AI with Cheap feeling mechanic, the 1-2 gut punch combo of not fun.

Then to put those things on full display a BGs meta that requires an uncooperative AI to cooperate in order to do damage and people are having a hard time being excited about the game. I’ve joked about not spending on and off for awhile with friends but this is the first time where I just don’t see the point in investing in this game anymore. Cyber deals are coming and I just don’t care. And I doubt that I’m the only one.

I’m sure Kabam might get a new me to come in and care enough to spend what I used to or even more, but it sure feels like more of us long timers are disenfranchised, disengaging and leaving than new blood is joining right now.
Not to mention the AI related issues have been ongoing for what 3 years now? The AI acting out of frames, speed, passiveness, nodes dictating the AI (e.g. SOS Moleman holds on to specials for dear life knowing that there is Spite active), doing what the player can't do (e.g. interrupting combos and heavies with specials), etc. Didn't we have a whole test on this for improvement with the tapper contraption Kabam did and also managed to make the situation better? Kudos on that btw. See we appreciate too!
Personally for me, that’s the biggest reason why I’m done spending. So many of these AI issues have been persistent and just deprioritized for so long that I’m burnt out waiting on them to fix it. We have been dragged along with these are complex issues for so long after being told it was in our heads for so long that it’s time to **** or get off the pot. Maybe after a fix comes I’ll change my mind…

But until then 2024 is the year where they killed my enjoyment of AW by constantly giving us underpowered attackers or attack tactics to face overtuned defenders or defensive tactics. They killed my enjoyment of BGs by constantly overclocking the AI and giving us defenders that no node gives us a break from. I’m bored fighting Onslaught, Bullseye or Serpent every match… and now Enchantress. It’s created a drought of variety and scheming.

The seasons of suffering and deathless chase probably keep me from just retiring at this point.

I know right? The complaints have been going on for so long, constantly read, now we are also reassured they are even being passed over to the game team to look at! Awesome! But its not on the Trello board? How long does it take to put the biggest pain point on the board? Because if its not on the board, its not being looked at right? Right? RIGHT???

You've got the top BGs player calling this game "dog turd" live on stream... Yeah things are looking fairly good. Might be time to go F2P.

I used to get pre-lease bundles on occasion, that stopped this year. I used to get the sigil, that stopped this year. And for the first time in 5+ years I let the $5 unit card expire. Cyber Monday will be the first sale I skip since Covid. I’ll probably never truly retire since I do enjoy my chatting with friends made and I enjoy Arena enough to still do that. But I went from big spending and playing T1 war a year ago to just not caring to even spend 5 more dollars. So that’s definitely where I am now.

Was in top 20 masters around aw seasons 1-15ish, game was so different back then and chasing top champs and being in a top alliance.

Definitely not the same, remember chasing first 6* when they came out..

Now fast forward 7* and 110+ 7* now, I only spend really on big sales nowadays,

Cyber deals will most likely be meh, I expect big r4 7* chase in Christmas sales or early next year, leading up to 4th July deals.

Very smart move, having a grinding event in BGs that requires intercept, when the AI hits you when you do that, just a few weeks before cyber week.

I’m actually grateful for it. It demonstrated very clearly to me the issues with the game and made me think long and hard about how much I’m willing to invest in time and money.

That’s the silver lining. Maybe in a few months they’ll figure it out but considering the amount of ignored constructive criticism that’s been largely ignore up to this point… who knows?

At least the new community team doesn’t threaten bans for providing evidence and acknowledges there is a problem so maybe it’ll actually change.

If 60fps makes things worse though… yikes.

I understand. The team today inherits the game from everyone who has touched it previously. They can’t be held responsible for everything.

However, I’d appreciate if that were part of an explicit discussion between players and team. I don’t really care that things like ages-old masteries work strangely in the current game, but it would help to get an acknowledgment that this wasn’t the likely intent. Some serendipity is fine—just say that’s the way it had to be without tons of new unintended knock-on effects if the team tried to fix it (and maybe drop a modest apology package along the way). Case closed, deal with it, move on.

With AI, which seems *acknowledged* by the team, where’s the response? If it requires a more substantial, long-term fix, I think most of the community would be sympathetic, even if they’d like to see progress from time to time.

But allowing it to persist without dropping a series of “here’s some pots and stuff” messages (or something) feels like there’s no tangible urgency to repair the problems.

That’s not to say that freebies are only what I’m after—but I think that official apologies suggest the issues are recognized, taken seriously and are being addressed. Comments on forums (which is now just one channel of many) seem much more like non-committal step.

Regular updates, with either timelines or some care package while baring with them would go a long way.

But as it is now, we are constantly expected to use our personal caches of resources to deal with the sloppy state of things… and maybe they will send compensation after the fact… and it’s often slow in coming.

To call it an inadequate cycle… is being kind.

It was always going to be a mess with the current meta defenders.

Yeah definitely need an in-game message with some form of compensation and admitting "the battlerealm has not been working up to the Grandmaster's lofty standards" or something that usually happens with some explanation around the AI and other issues. Not everyone hops on to the forums, checks the MCOC socials, join the live stream, and Discord now which not many are on including myself but is apparently is now the best place to get all your information.

The other day while fighting Onslaught, my NON-METAL attacker dashed forward again, while I was swiping back. There was no reverse control on them since he had been only using his Sp 1. This has been happening a lot when going against him. As soon as he throws his Sp 1, the attacker sprints forward right into it.

As much as I want to agree with a compensation "after the fact," I can't in this situation. If Kabam was to compensate for a 3 year long running issue that has hampered the playing ability of the players and frustrated them to no end with a single compensation package, it will either go into overflow and expire or won't be adequate for the 3 year long pain.

Also no compensation in-game = no acknowledgment of a problem = no problem to 99% of the player base.

All “Crit Me” did was put a spotlight on the piss poor state of the in-fight performance of the game. Things many of us have been commenting on for long time got put on display for the whole community. Many of these things were not new, they were just made even more extreme as part of the parry AI coding changes.

I’m actually concerned that Kabam is just gonna bide their time for Crit Me to go away and will deprioritize AI issues again.
