It’s difficult enough to sig up 6* champions. 7* would be a bridge to far. But it seems like from @Kabam Miike comment that the next thing to chase won’t be another tier of champions.
What would you do if 7 stars comes to the game? What do you think about the future of MCOC?
Honest answer about the end of mcoc:
At some point all remaining users will get an in game message stating that support for the game will end on such and such date, after which you can no longer access your account, thank you for playing and please try new game x.
Whether that message comes in weeks, months or years, we're certainly closer to it now than we were, say, before the new Kabam ceo stepped in earlier this year. This is the way everything ends, and trust me, everything ends.
So, enjoy while you can!
I think you guys assume CEOs have a lot more to do with the way a game is run day-to-day than they actually do...
Well, they used to ask you why you were wasting your time here when you could be patching the servers, so they probably assume the CEO decides the release schedule for every game in the building.
Technically it is true we're closer to shutdown now than when the new CEO was appointed. But technically it is also true that we're closer to shutdown now than the last time it was Taco Tuesday in the Kabam lunchroom.
Frankly I really want to hear what whales think of this game current status and their expectation of future development. This is the voice which affects Kabam the most but I seldom heard of. The role of Seatin used to be one of them but his role is a bit mixture of revenue source and spender, and he has been slowed down already. Idk the boundary of whales but at least it may be better if someone who spent $1k per month in this game can voice out.
For me 7* would be interesting if: - they bring new features (5* minigame at sk3; 6* with health recovery) i would like something cool like teambuild ala strikers - you can choose your champ after (very) long work via 10 champ selector crystal maybe incl. awakened ability and max sig (i know, that makes it difficult later for 8*) - the max sig is increased - and maybe bring new skin and sk animations
We could get some kind of bonus to apply to champions that can enhance their signature or some attributes.
Each bonus could change one the stars, turning it from silver to red or green or blue, depending of the kind of bonus used (attack, defense, signature… 🤷♂️)
That could add some diversity to champions as no one wil have the exact same champions
I'd welcome the idea of relics or 7* in the future, it will certainly still keep me entertained and hooked on the game. Something has to give at some point else the game will just die.
I'm not against any new ideas they bring to further the game, really don't understand why people are so against 7* either tbf
I've been playing the game since it was released. I will definitely quit the game if 7* are introduced, and there is no doubt in my mind about that. Kabam needs to be creative and come up with interesting ways to continue the game without resorting to 7*. Maybe relics, adding more rank levels to 6*, new challenges for lower star champions we already have. There are so many possibilities. Adding 7* would be the worst option.

They could add 8* champs instead.
The gist of what you're saying is end the progression rarities now. Just add stuff on top of 6* champs. In effect, the game becomes 6* rank 5, rank 6, rank 7, forever. Whether that happens with relics or alternate awakening abilities, or whatever is irrelevant: it is just adding more stuff onto the existing 6* champs.
That's never going to happen. It isn't an option available to Kabam. The issue is that what some players perceive as the critical problem - starting over - is the *point* to new rarities. There comes a point where adding new champions has diminishing returns. You can't just keep chasing the next champion unless future champions are blockbusters compared to the old ones. And if you decide to go that route of power hyperinflation, you'll have 7* champs anyway: they just won't be called 7* champs, they will be called the 2025 6* champs that, without them, you're completely left behind.
There's nothing magical about 7* rarity. We don't have them and they are going to be more powerful than any of our 6* champs eventually. If we make a whole new class of 6* champs in the future that are power inflated to be more powerful than any champs before and that no one has yet, that's 7* champs disguised as 6* champs. That's worse, because it is messier but generates the same result.
Seven is a lucky number but it is not a magical number (that would be three). 7* rarity is just a mathematical short hand for the next power level up that is easy to understand, that we all will eventually have to pursue. The degree to which our existing rosters will help in that pursuit is the only avenue Kabam has to make choices in. What the advantage will be is negotiable. But some element of starting over is not.
Not "I think it is not." Is not, period. The day Kabam says no more steps up, the game has gone into maintenance mode. They just aren't allowed to tell you that. It's over.
I could get behind 7*s if they were unique champs not in the game (and not replacing new 6* champs). Maybe characters like Galactus, Franklin Richards, Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Beyonder, etc. Something that could only be used in questing for now or unique end-game content. Some way to empower 6* past rank 5 (relics, rank 6 etc) will likely be the path forward.
I have been with this game since the beginning and would quit with a 7* announcement or introduction.
The scale of economy would be too great. Many (the majority) of us can’t even keep or get resources to get the next level of 6* champs beyond R3. We are well into the 6* era and the game economy still lags way behind progression.
There’s a lot of stuff that would need fixed in game before 7* could even be a consideration of possibility.

You realize that's exactly what they would do yes? Look at 5* now, how easy is it to take a 5* from r1 to r5?
We are well into the 6* era and the game economy still lags way behind progression.
This is precisely why 7* champs are an imminent eventuality. People think the rewards are too small and too slow for whatever they envision they are supposed to be getting. However, the fantasy they are entertaining is not consistent with the top tier of the game: it is more consistent with the middle to lower tiers of the game that are highly accelerated.
You'll get the faster game economy you think is appropriate for your progression. But you'll get it when that level of progression is an intermediate one, when they add one or two progression tiers on top of it.
Speed kills. And no matter how many times players are warned, they don't listen and they don't care. They think they can have it all. They never get it. Instead they get what they ask for. Unfortunately for them.
I believe I wouldn't quit at 7*, but definitely feel there are other things in the game which need to be addressed and should be higher priority than the next rarity.
I would imagine they will implement something like their Disney Mirrorverse champs ranks ups where you upgrade your 4* into a 5* by duping then after a certain amount of shards. In mcoc case, I would think it would be through relics then eventually star rating but keeping your invested champs and using lower star ratings to increase their levels?! Who knows
I'd get behind 7 stars if they new only. So for example if they released in 2023, 2022 champs would be in the base pool and no pre 2022 champs would be added to the 7 star pool, only the newer ones. That would make it interesting for me.

I think we're already too far into the game to do something like that now. It would have been awesome early on but without the story structure to justify it, we would have capped out really fast and we would have seen a major dip in player participation early on
Nobody seems to get that will the unavoidable arrival of 7*, one thing that will happen is that 6* sig stones will become MUCH more available (at some point at least), just like it happened to the 5* sig stones when the game Meta started shifting to 6*.
Yep, the game HAS to evolve. And perhaps, who knows, the unique feature that 7* have will be Relics (just as 6* have Adrenaline).
Act 8 and 7* shards are around the corner. And I’m cool with that. I can still enjoy this game in my current progression level.
If 7 stars come, it might be time for me to gracefully bow out of the game. Unless we get some really good crystals that no longer have 3 or 4 stars attached to it.
I personally want to be excited for the introduction and the game doesn't have the slow roll out like they did with 6 stars. If 7 stars just feels like its to continue the game and it isn't really exciting than I'll be done.
The game will probably be better off added another level to 6 stars instead of introducing 7 stars.
I started playing MCOC because my love of Marvel universe and the game was fun. There were story modes and your progress of the story modes helped you progress to the next level of champs. The game was fun to play with me and my kids. Then over time it changed, more added, difficult content that you either pay to complete, have the skill, or just don’t do it. It started becoming a job with war, AQ, monthly events, story modes, side events, back issues, specials quests etc.
The game evolved from fun to play casually to I need these champs to do further content, to get those champs I need to spend more time or more money. I have to log in every day to complete in AQ which are so blah but I have to do them to progress.
With the intro of 7* it starts that cycle all over again and many of us have zero desire to do it. I have little desire to play today but do it because I love my alliance members and we are like family. That’s really the only reason some stay and with a new cycle of champs I can see that dwindling even further.
Not rebuilding my roster again. Didn't really want to do it for 6*, but stick with it. Not another time though. At this point, with all the new champs added since then, it is just too much of a void to fill from scratch, especially with all the RNG and resource early on.
Make more symbiote Steve-like content. Bring in different characters like that that everyone can use and build up and reward with skill and a fun play style to make them usable for harder content.
Variant 4 was also cool because it made us use our entire roster depth - the only thing not cool was the 1* limitation and no way to get Hulk (reasonably) if you didn't have him. The concept of the roster breadth was great tho.
Relics? I dunno. It's another form of gear and just gonna make things more confusing than it needs to be.
Not everything has to be a grind or Rng based. It just needs to be interesting and fun.
In my opinion, an extra rank for 5*s (rank6) and two extra ranks for 6*s (rank6, rank7), would extend their “life” and buy at least couple of years, until the “next thing” is needed to the game. Whether that is 7*s or relics, it doesn’t seems players are in a rush for that 😂
Having run after 4*’s, then 5*’s and now 6*’s, the introduction of 7*’s (even if only for a select, limited breed of uber-potent Marvel characters) would be reason for me to walk.
Relics, gears or what have you are at least modestly defensible (as long as they are rewards available across multiple game modes). Much of that depends on implementation. For example, I really don’t want to play Doom equipped with Mjolnir and the Eye of Agamotto—sounds kind of fun at first, but would ultimately become ridiculous.
I still think 5-champ “teams” rooted in Marvel lore have a place in the game. That has never been a thing, so I’m guessing it’s out of the question. But it would be fun for a unit of OGs to actually be a force in game.
8 years is a long time. The team has managed to keep coming up with things so far so I wouldn’t count them out.
IMO adding 7* champs would be the worst idea not only cause no one wants to rebuild their roster again but because it's the laziest and most boring option. If hey want us to stay engaged, they can't just re-do what they did with 6* champs and expect us to take it. Get creative with leveling champs.
It's not rebuilding a Roster in that sense, and working on our Rosters is always going to be a part of the game. There is no "set for life".
Yeah, but it's the "starting over" for all of the exact same champs that loses its luster. We've done it multiple times already. Right now, there are 230 champs in game and that just keeps growing. I've been collecting 6* since they came out and have 104 right now - not even half of all that are available and I'm pretty active. Do I want all of them, no, but the problem is the pool is so deep now, the chance of getting ones you want (those that do certain things, that you enjoy just for the character, etc.) is increasingly becoming smaller and smaller. Even a general nexus of 3 champs doesn't really help solve that problem, nor does a class specific one or a dual crystal and they're still pretty difficult to come by as 6* crystals anyway.
No one with a deep 6* roster is using 1, 2, 3, 4 star champs unless they have to, or just to show off some unique game interactions and skills (that she-hulk abyss run was nice, but not realistic). For the most part, the end game folks aren't even ranking up 5* to R4/R5 either unless there is a specific gap that a champ fills until the 6* comes along. Everyone will eventually get to a point where they realize there is no real benefit to ranking their lower champs, especially when they need those resources to rank up the champs that accomplish the most in the game (Act 7 was all about the 6* boost so that R1's even work better than 5* R5 in a lot of cases).
No need to respond. Just my take on why I would absolutely leave the game if/when it happens. I, personally, have no desire to start my 7* roster and begin collecting the exact same champs again. I would however, be open to utilizing my existing roster, in some meaningful, new and interesting way, or doing new content that is not based on the same champions, in a new tier.

You're free to do what you like, but if people are under the impression 7*s aren't a possibility that ensures the game continues, then that's not realistic.
I think one thing you may forget though, if and when 7* do arrive, that first set of basic pool will have some of the newer champs mixed with older and that first featured pool will have the newest plus probably a good mix of highly sought after champs. 6* wasn't like that because the level of effectiveness and desirability of those chamos then pale in comparison to what's available now.
