End of Gifting... [master-thread]

I’m sure many of us were caught of guard by this change and I just want to see what people think about it. I understand some of the reasoning for the change but what do we do now? As this wasn’t the first gifting event shouldn’t this news come right after gifting so people don’t save all year for the next one? I am generally free to play aside from the occasional gift card I get gifted I use on Sigil or more recently Collector Card. So now do I spend my units? Or will this new event be better? Can KABAM maybe actually give us a glimpse. It does change everything for someone like me. My plan was to save all units for gifting this year currently at 6K in hopes to make a final roster upgrade and chase the Thronebreaker title…. Extremely disappointed ATM. Let me know what’s on your mind fellow players. Keep it clean just here for opinions.

While I don't expect full explanation of the event 4 months away, could we get some idea about what will be possible.
for example, let's say my alt account has a nice round 10k units, and has some consumables stocked up (revives, potions) and ways to get more (4 hour crystals).
Will we basiclly be able to move those kinds of items around, enabling easier completion of say abyss, Carina's challenges, and whatever else is forthcoming?
Will there be some way to get around inventory caps, or if I were to say trade in those 10K units for revives and potions, would I have to blitz through them in approximately 2 weeks (or sell them for gold I guess)?
I think some general idea should be provided so people can decide if they want to say continue buying daily cards, or pick up the resort pass or otherwise give kabam any money, or invest any of the players time (assuming the player isn't actually interested in progressing a 2nd account... if they are, then this whole question is less relevant to that player)?
The only thing that saddens me is the loss of the alliance aspect of it all. It was so much fun to see the alliance rally before the event and gift each other stuff. Making it a solo event runs the risk of turning it into yet another Cyber Weekend/July 4th/etc and I don't find that particularly appealing. Especially not so close to Cyber Weekend itself.
They are further proving the cheaters are always one step ahead and they cannot effectively combat cheating without punishing legitimate players.
Perpetual bugs. Rampant cheating with poor methodology of detection/punishing. Drastic drop off in unit deal value. Repetitive and monotonous events. And now a history of canceling (or dramatically changing) the most looked forward to annual events.
I’m sure millions will still find a way to enjoy the game. But I won’t be one of them anymore.
Bet the consumables are just potions, revives and boost; and with a limit.
I’ll be crying by the Christmas tree if anyone wants anything…
