Here's a revolutionary idea, and please bear with me. Instead of money-grabbing gimmicks to squeeze whale tatas as hard as possible like relics and 7 star champs (both of which seem deeply uninventive and the relics especially sound like they will kill the skill aspect of what makes this game fun to many of us), what if Kabam were to, and please just hear me out, focus just on releasing more actual content and not spend any time on ways to "push boundaries" with champs that really don't need it? 6*R5's being continually hard to get and develop is a great plateau. Ascension, maybe that would be fine, and that sounds like the least of the evils and one that may not cause a mass exodus from the game and the death to Kabam's cash flow from it. But back to the point, what if we were to get more actual content to engage and entertain the player base? EOP is a huge win and is well received. 8.1 and further developments in the campaign are both fun and challenging, and also well received. The back issues (variants) content seems to have stagnated but has generally been embraced and loved by the player base. Gauntlet was fun (while it was here), and more of that kind of special content has been well received. The point is, what the players seem to want here is content, not additional champion growth systems. The current system is good as it is and could end with 6*R5 champs and increasingly challenging content that would push our skills instead of trying to push into our wallets and purses. I am genuinely concerned that a push for relics or rolling out 7* champs will be the deathblow to a game I love very much. Kabam does a lot of things right and the content is the bulk of it. The monetization around the content is what often ruins it (just look at what happened with the Battlegrounds release, which took a fun and enjoyable game mode and made it quite stinky with the way the milestones and cash offers worked), but there's a level players are okay with clearly and it does need to happen to fund the game. New champs? Absolutely. New Acts and Chapters? All day. Back Issues? Yes, please. More content like Labyrinth, Abyss and Gauntlet? Bring it on. And those are all things the players (including myself) generally like. In my opinion (and please pile on folks if I'm not just spouting nonsense) Kabam should focus their efforts 100% on content, not unwanted progression systems that will kill what has made this game so beloved to many of us for years running.
Better hope this appeals to a lot of new folks who haven't joined the game yet, because a lot of 2014/2015 players are about to check out permanently. Any one of these concepts is a lot, but adding BOTH 7* AND relics... it's not at all worth the grind (or let's be real, the $)for most long time players anymore. It's been real but this game has moved past most of us to an area where it's all about the money going forward.
I have some important questions: Will there be a Thronebreaker- or Paragorn Chrystal which gives you a chance of getting 4* to 7*(Thronebreaker) or 5* to 7* Chrystal? Will there be added a Thronebreaker-Event, where you can get 7* shards? Will there be new Gold-chrystals? Will 7* still have to be awakened and put to Sig 200 or are you just funny and make us grind to Sig 400?

Except how are you ever going to grow past what you have now? What is the point of new content that can't grow either? If you can't get higher powered champs, then content will also never get more difficult.
Why canβt they just keep adding 6 stars rank 5 to 100 if they really wanted too? No need for 7 starsβ¦ Iβm done if they do 7 stars. Iβm not going to keep collecting champs over and over and over again. Let the game die already.
I gotta say, the way some of you are crying over being able to get even stronger in a game and saying things like just let the game die, makes me wonder why you even play the game to begin with.
I don't want relics to be RNG. It's enough that we have RNG in champs and catalysts, I think more randomness will only hurt. I want relics to be distributed more like a nexus crystal, where you have some choice, or at the very least let every Xth pull be guaranteed *something*.
Reading this thread is such a flashback to 2017, all the comments are exactly the same, just replacing 6 with 7
And the folks who were angry 5 years ago are now 5 years further along, many have kids that they didn't have then, mortgages... other real life situations. Starting the chase all over again from scratch just isn't worth the time and energy commitment for a large amount of us

I think the idea for the let it die people is that instead of ruining what was a good game that they loved, just call it and make a new game.
Personally, I donβt have the energy and patience to do the grind of acquiring and progressing champions again like I did with five and 6 stars. This really stinks but the writing may very well be on the wall for me to stop spending the money and start getting out of this game. Relics I was cool with but they should just stop with 6 stars
The grind? You mean playing the game normally? The game hasn't changed for any new rarity introduced in terms of acquisition. It's questing at it's core. If we're on act 9 with 7* mats, how is that any different than being act 8 getting r5 6* mats?
I'm not a huge fan of 7*'s to begin with but it's exactly the same as what happened with 6*'s when they came out. People said it would ruin the game and they didn't want to start over etc.. but here we are. The game has to go some where and the other 2 methods with relics and ascensions can only take it so far. I do think that 7*'s should come after the introduction of the other 2 though.

I'm just happy I'll be able to finish act 6 with my R3 7*'s.
Ok, lot of stuff going on here. Overall, I'm a little hesitant, with some good, some bad, and some definitely ugly.
The good, I think that 6*s will be relevant for a long time with the addition of ascension. Assuming 7*s launch where a rank 1 level 25 6* is equivalent to a 6* rank 4. (The same way that a 6* Rank 1 level 25 is equivalent to a 5* rank 4) . Then when you consider ascension, which adds an extra rank on your 6* champion. This means we have the following
6* Rank 4 = 7* Rank 1 = 6* rank 3 ascended
6* Rank 5 = 7* Rank 2 = 6* Rank 4 ascended
6* Rank 5 ascended = 7* rank 3
And I mean, when you consider how many Rank 4 6*s you have right now, and how many you'd need to stop using your 6* rank 3s - this means that our 6* rank 5s that we ascend are pretty easily going to keep up with our 7* Rank 4s which are essentially 1 rank above. So it's only when 7* rank 5s come out that 6*s are going to be anywhere near obsolete. And we don't even have 6* Rank 5s out yet, and 6*s were added 3 and a half years ago.
This means, assuming the same pattern for 7*s we have a good 3 years before our 6*s stop being relevant. This is a good part of the announcement, and in my view respects any investment in 6*s.
Relics adding abilities to champions seems cool, things like increased DOT, duration etc, are good ideas where stat boosts and effect boosts can be used in interesting ways for our favourite champions.
Now the bad and the ugly, I still think 7*s are here too soon. I thought this with 6*s being added before we could get 5* rank 5s, and I still think it now that 7*s are being added the same time as 6* rank 5s are only a glint in a whales eye. I would have liked to see another 6-9 months before we had this announcement for 7*s.
I also don't like that relics seem to be built around strikers, it may be just me personally, but I didn't enjoy strikers too much. I'll hold my judgement until I see it in action, but I'm not excited about them right now. I also don't like too much that they contribute to prestige but ah well, that's pretty stale at the moment.
I am worried about how ascension will be done, if it becomes harder to ascend a champion than get a 7*, this could be useless, as why invest the effort into ascending when you could just focus on 7*s. I hope it's not monetised too heavily, or it will seem like "Hey, we really want your 6*s to be useful... as long as you pay". They can be monetised, but easily accessible to obtain by playing.

That works for console games. But not a live service mobile game that still makes the same amount of money or more 8 years after launch lol.

But you aren't really starting from scratch. The way they have all this coming out but 7*'s is more like a side quest. If I'm able to make a R5 6* as strong as a R1 or 2 7*, that's not really starting over. I'm just building on 7*'s on the side.
This is the complete opposite of what people want. There are so many other things we would have preferred (mastery update, wish crystals, new EQ difficulty, Alliance War changes, more champion buffs). We literally donβt even have rank 5 6 stars.
At the same time they announce 7*s, they still have events and crystals for veteran top tier players that give premium crystal shards, 3*s, etc. I mean, SA rewards are like 3 years outdated. They really need to update other aspects of game if they are going to pull this stuff on the player base!
The ideas of Relics is pretty cool too be honest, but Iam really scared about 7 star champions. This sounds horrible... So much people of the player base are still working extremely hard and put lots of time & effort on building/collecting their 6 star rooster. And still R5 six star champions are not even in the game. Reminds me to the introduction of 6 stars back in 2017...
Also Kabum can't even handle a balanced cheater free new Battlegrounds game mode with fair and accessible rewards or simple bug fixes to patch visual effect issues or the practice function.
There are lots of things to fix before bringing 7 star champs to the game.

With the launch of 7*s, are all the characters who are available only up to 5* rarity getting 6* versions? (Quake, Magik, etc)
