How exactly does it cost them nothing? I've never understood that argument.
he might as well just ask for 10 7stars. I mean that doesn't cost them anything either. just put in the code and be done with it. smh
Yes. Design costs money. Designers spend time and energy and need to be paid. Items in-game cost money because that's potential revenue. Rebalancing costs money because someone has to make sure the Resources don't upset the balance, and if they do, someone has to rebalance the in-game economy, and that costs money. The whole "it costs nothing" argument is pretty irreverent to the entire process.
All of these things are monthly salary included. They didn't hire extra people just to do this event.
If someone is being paid a salary to do it, how is it free?
I'm genuinely disgusted by this event. This isn't something "new". This is Cyber Weekend, Spring Cleaning, and July 4th. I've spent money every month for a few years now. It's not a lot, but I'm contributing, as I'm sure many of us are. Last year, this event felt like a thank you from Kabam to the summoners. This year, it just feels dirty. I didn't expect much after the confusing announcement that there wouldn't be gold offers, but I am blown away by how big of a miss this event is.
The lack of response from Kabam makes me feel like they don't care that we've been disappointed. I mean, why care? They got their money. They can just ignore the problem completely.
How exactly does it cost them nothing? I've never understood that argument.

see.. this.. this is what I'm talking about sir. If I work for say.. walmart... and my job is to stock shelves. I'm paid xx per hour to do it. One day they are short in the grocery section, so instead of stocking shelves, I help unload a truck of fruit. Did I just cost walmart money because WHILE ON DUTY I helped someone out? Your points have no logic.. but you keep making them to defend a indefensible POV.. this is a problem sir.
How can any of us "stay on topic" if every other comment is you semantically attacking anyone saying anything negative of the game or Kabam's choices?
That's not an attack at all. That's a plain statement. People are paid for their time and energy. That's not free.
How exactly does it cost them nothing? I've never understood that argument.

It would be nice if some from Kabam commented but honestly not sure what they could say. The direction and vision for the game has been shifted so far in the direction of spending we’ll all get bored of typing before Kabam will changes its ways.
The leadership team at Kabam don’t want to offer anything meaningful to players unless they pay for it. That’s the current status.
They’ve messed up battle grounds through its monetisation. They’ve messed up what should have been a great gesture for players that always provides a spending to Kabam. No one was asking for free 6* Deadpools, the whales would still have gotten there wallets out.
Next we have Relics, 7* and Ascension. I’m not opposed to any of these but bloody hell I’m now fearful for there implementation. It’ll be 5 people in the world can earn relics, the rest can buy a chance for $99.99
The way I'm thinking, this event didn't have to happen. But it's something for nothing. As uncollected I can get 1 tier 5 basic + 10 tier 1 alpha for 500 units. That's a good deal for me so I got them and I can rank 5 Tigra or Domino, I'm undecided which just yet. The actual Deadpool event is a bit of a let down, but all I have to do is win 1 fight for 1m gold. That's good. On the down side I would have liked the chance to win a 5* or 6* champ, but you can't have it all lolz
this logic always bothers me... technically no offers "have" to be made.. no events "have" to take place... so what? To keep a mobile game going the devs need to keep the community engaged. One of the biggest ways they keep us engaged is events and offers. The day of the deadpool was meant to bring good faith to the community and made almost everyone universally happy... to take 3 steps back with something they originally did for good will isn't something to spin as "they didn't have to do anything".. I bet many would suggest they SHOULDN'T have done anything if they couldn't mirror what was already done in the past.
I just try to look at the positives rather than the negatives, it's good for mental health.
while I agree on the sentiment.. believing everything in life is a gift is how you get walked all over brother. You don't have to be cynical to think something was done wrong or in bad faith.
Dont get me wrong, I totally understand the backlash. If Kabam announced the offers would be unit based instead of gold it would have helped. Good communication is key.
They already confirmed there would be no Gold Offers.
No.. they had a known troll account make a sarcastic comment that was replied to by an actual mod account with confusion.
That's a pretty jaded perspective for a fun response.
It wasn't jaded at all lol.. it's what literally happened

No, what happened was the Forum Account associated with Deadpool Events, which is known to be colorful, responded to the question. There's a difference between being upset about an outcome, and being cynical.
I said.. "known troll account"... you said "known to be colorful"... why are we still arguing when we're saying the same thing.. only I'm not spinning my words for a certain groups benefit?
troll account doesnt mean misinformation account. it was messing in a way of how deadpool would talk but obviously not lying. and kabam jax replied not sarcastically but more in shock that gold deals wont be there. it's not their fault you interpreted in such a wrong way when they mentioned it clearly without any hidden meaning behind it
so an account that's entire history was sarcasm, pranks, and humor should have suddenly been taken literally not sarcastically... and it's on everyone else for not doing that?
Well, yes. Regardless of whether they joke around or not, until seeing otherwise, the only thing we can go on is what's said. We're free to interpret it however we want, but if we assume they're not being honest, that's still an assumption.
If Pee Wee Herman ran for president.. would you take him seriously?
How exactly does it cost them nothing? I've never understood that argument.
he might as well just ask for 10 7stars. I mean that doesn't cost them anything either. just put in the code and be done with it. smh
You're going for having a point of view, to being completely absurd and offensive. Asking them why they didn't match what they already a year ago, and turned a gold event into a monetized event is more than fair to ask. You seem to be spinning everything said like you're carrying a kabam flag into war. Why?
If he had a good campaign and I supported his proposals, sure. As long as he's staying away from Theaters.
I say this without a shred of irony or malice.. is there literally anything you've ever said, that actually disagreed with an act taken by kabam regarding this game?
You're still assuming. You're assuming I'm taking a side. The only side I've taken is clarification. I have my own opinions on the Event. That doesn't mean I'm reacting the same. If we're going to discuss it, we can at least be clear and accurate.
I'm not "assuming" anything.. I asked you a direct question based on my perspective. I asked it without malice or anger.. would you like to answer the question or deflect again?
I answered it. I said I'm not taking any side in this, against Kabam or the Players. Have I disagreed? Absolutely. I still operate with respect towards the people who produce it. Which is why I said I don't react the same. The answer you asked for is there. It's just not the one you wanted.
I'll try this a third time.. I did not ask you what "side" you are on... I asked if there has ever been an instance that you disagreed with an action Kabam has taken in the history of this game? Yes or no? If yes... could you tell me what that was.
I answered your question. I'm not participating in an interrogation. Back to the topic.
How exactly does it cost them nothing? I've never understood that argument.
he might as well just ask for 10 7stars. I mean that doesn't cost them anything either. just put in the code and be done with it. smh

There is no balance lol. During the new year event, people can buy as many gifting crystals as they want, which have high tier rewards in them including 6 star shards, 6 star awakening gems, and R4 material, which wasn’t readily available at the time. It’s whoever pays the most. Them making a gold offer for a 6 star nexus won’t harm the “economy”.
They can't just buy as many as they want. Everything that goes into the game has some kind of balancing factor.
You could literally make an alt account and gift yourself as many crystals as you wanted, your statement is false.
Yet here we are with a different Event coming up. You could also not Gift yourself however many you wanted. You were either limited by Units, or money. Those are still balancing factors.
If the amount of money you have is a limiting factor then there is no is no in game economy. You can spend as much as you want to get all the high tier resources and Kabam has no way to limit that. But somehow a gold offer for a nexus or rank up material is going to “upset the balance”?
With all due respect, I’m done with this discussion, arguing with you often goes nowhere.
The money you have IS a limiting factor. How many Players have unlimited funds at their disposal?
1) this is the topic.. if you answered the question instead of deflecting like crazy I would have gotten to the point 2) The point of me asking that, is if you have never seen anything the game has done negatively.. you do have a biased side, you just don't want to realize or acknowledge it.
IE I have written 4-5 threads PRAISING acts taken by kabam over the last few months... You probably "liked" a few of them... but when someone (or some company) does something blatantly wrong and anti community.. I won't just blanketly cheerlead for it. You've twisted my words so much in this thread you literally said you would support Pee Wee Herman for president to justify your stances... do you realize you did that? lol
When they do something anti community.. your first instinct shouldn't be "how do spin this in kabam's favor" it should be "what's best of the longevity and growth of the game"... at least that's my 2 cents....
I won't hold my breath for you to actually answer the question I asked.
he has disagreed with an action Kabam has taken in the history of this game. many times infact. I cant remember them all but I do remember one for sure. anyway regardless of that I don't think you are a bad person so you should realize that he isn't comfortable with answering a personal question. and he has a right to privacy so let it be and actually discuss about the topic.
ok.. since you're attempting to answer my question more than he is.. can you name the one you remember? This isn't a "personal question" it's trying to make him understand that the way he acts is what derails a thread.. if half the comments of an entire post is him spinning what everyone else is saying in a pro kabam light.. nothing of substance or will be ever said. For all I know he's doing that on purpose... but at least admit to it lol. I'd love a substance based debate on an issue of the game.. but if there's a guy in the topic screaming over everyone else trying to have that discussion.. how can we ever do that?
What’s wild is that you think he doesn’t know that and do it on purpose.
Look up “energy vampire” from “What We Do In The Shadows”

Well well well. Wonder how many posts have been deleted between now and 4 hours ago when deals broke!
I am disappointed that no gold deals were there. Could've made them half the value of the unit and dollar deals but it would still have been better than than nothing at all

Man, you lost the argument. Just... don't.
There is no argument to be won, or lost. What was literally said was there would be no Gold Offers. So the whole communication argument is moot.
NO one said that, except if you count the mock kabam account, but that s not official, it's just for fun, yes? We laughed, we had a good time, now it s over, and we woke up to the harsh, bitter reality of this game.
If it's orange and has Kabam in the name, it's official.
When a mod says "I have no more information to share, nobody told me anything yet" is official then, and we can assume that the game developers don't know as well, and they get paid as professionals? And you said it was your final word five posts back.
Anyway, when a mockery account jokes about something, OFFICIALY, (happy?) there s no way to tell if what he says is true or not. It s a joke, not an official announcement.
ANyway #2, the only thing I m hoping after today's disaster/mockery/whatever this farse was, is that we won't see a price increase in standard unit packages in the future. Everything gets monetized, the prices are increasing (monthly card costs $10 more every month now with less items), and even players that spend money on the game (like myself) are starting to get disgusted.
No one is doing anything. We're having a discussion about the Event. We're talking about the timeline and what's unfolded. So far, nothing has been said "pro-Kabam", or "anti-Players". They commented that there wouldn't be Gold Offers. That's supported by comments from Kabam, regardless of the Kabam Account that made it. People are free to express their opinions on the Event. Others are also free to clarify without persecution.

It s not free, and it s not EXTRA. The Gold pool event is not where they get paid from.
I may sound like a person drugged out with copium but maybe since they offered a **** ton of gold for just 1 point in the event maybe they're gonna push the gold offers after the day(s) of Deadpool

My point was nothing in the game is free. Everything costs money to produce. It's not realistic to say it's free, so they should do it.
Thank you @RichTheMan for your views on this. Only member of the CCP I’ve seen criticise this. Seen others post opening videos which I’m not going to watch. Sure Brian Grant will have his views on the total paid element of this event. But good see you point out the change to spending since the new CEO came on board. The direction of the game has blatanly focused on spending.

No, your point back there was that designing an event costs extra. You haven't said it like that, but you were implying it. And I m saying that no, this is part of their contracts as kabam employees. You can say "no, I wasn't implying anything", and that's ok, people on the forum who can read (well, if they couldn't they won't be here, sure), will understand.
I don’t believe anyone individual can derail a thread. It’s our collective fault for constantly replying to them and quoting them. They are entitled to there singular opinion but if we constantly reply to them we change the direction of the thread.

If you can point out anything in this Thread where I spun anything "pro-Kabam", I'd be surprised. I've been Switzerland in this.
I don't even have to go back....
- You suggested a free event costs money it doesn't - You said people should have taken sarcasm literally, and if they didn't its on them - You called me "jaded" for pointing out the sarcastic post in the first place - You defended them merging threads and closing polls that had nothing to do with complaints of the event - You defended Kabam against rising app store costs
this was all off the top of my head.. and I cannot think of a single thing you said that was negative of Kabam or pro community (you know "taking sides" as you said)
Huh?
I said people made assumptions. The information offered was there wouldn't be any. I said calling Thrillson a troll was jaded, and I supported it with the fact that it's been a known Account associated with these Events. I said they likely merged them all into one Thread and edited the Title. I explained the process of how charges are made. (Which literally has nothing to do with this subject.)
My comments are about sticking to factual information. Whatever your issue with me personally is, your perception of my comments is off.
This cash grab of an event has been poorly executed to say the least. The communication about the event was terrible as communication has been a long standing complaint within the community. Kabam always says they will communicate better, but actions speak louder than words. Step it up, Kabam. The Kabam Thrillson announcement was an embarrassment of an attempt to make light of the fact that you were changing your event to the detriment of the player base. Furthermore, as pointed out by other summoners, the announcement said you wanted to 'try something new' and there is absolutely nothing new here. Just cash offers and the ire of the player base. Neither of which is new at this point. Please, Kabam, do better. We love your game and we want to continue enjoying it. Maybe to prevent the feeling of having the rug pulled out from under us, rename an event if you plan on changing it.
