Why did we beta test this like 4 times over the last year, and each time was almost the same as the last, just so you can add a billion things to this with only a few days’ notice and no testing before making it live? And make it almost completely pay to play? Everything about this is bad. Spreading rewards across multiple rank reward events, multiple milestone events, plus objectives and a BG store? And making this in large part an alliance event for no reason? Wayyyyyy too complicated and misguided.

I’m just gonna spend my time farming and doing arenas after finishing EQ. 0/10 stars.

As of my first impressions i think kabam has killed bgs for 90+% pf the players.

For average players bgs will be a fun little thing to play friendly matches or dip in when you are bored and have nothing else to do. But then quickly back to arena.

The greediness is palpable. All the cash offers. No elders marks to start off. Rank rewards barely matter…

And with that again best strategy for every larger account is to make it to gladiator circuit and then tank down using energy, and then beat up cavalier players using elders marks.

Genious moves right there.

The lack of Elder's Marks to start with is a huge whiff by Kabam. You want people to participate in your brand new super hyped game mode and the first thing you do is ask us to spend thousands of units just to basically participate. Kabam needs to introduce a Calendar that gives out Elder's Marks immediately. Maybe add a few to the 48 hour Objective as well. Probably should give us a one time chunk to start off with as well.

I was extremely excited for the battlegrounds rollout. I've been working on my deck for months getting ready to hop in and see how far up the milestones and leaderboard that I can go. Now, unless I spend units (which as we know are the in game equivalent as cash) on elder marks, the most I or other FTP players can get are just the participation rewards.

This is super disheartening, especially after the last year of poor implementation of the game play engine and the still lingering input issues, the brazen play to win rank up materials, frequent lack of communication from the game team and what appeared to be a disregard for player base suggestions, and the mostly stale gameplay modes. Pre-rollout Battlegrounds looked like it was going to revitalize a lot of what has been going wrong but it looks like Battlegrounds is going to be (like others before me have pointed out) an Arena 2.0 mode where the player who spends a ton of money on refreshes (or in the case of BGs, Elder Marks) will win and everyone who can't afford to spend is left on the outside looking in.

Don't mean to be such a Debbie Downer, it just makes me really sad.

Rather than just complaining heres some feedback.

Add Elders Mark to every tier of Victory Track not just each new division, make Elders Mark only useful for grinding through Gladiator Circuit and remove them as a requirement to earn rewards in the Solo and Alliance events. Make the premium currency only needed for the players who want to compete for the highest end rewards. Also add high end rewards to the Gladiator Circuit until Relics are ready.

I'm pretty dissapointed. The fact that rank rewards are so abysmal compared to the solo / alliance events that are hidden behind paywalls is pretty bad. I'm a spender but without rank rewards being worthwhile I won't be spending on this

This was the one mode I was most excited about in the history of this game. I have been r3’ing champs just for BG since it was announced so I can have a deck and make a strong push for what I was assuming would be great rewards. I could go on and on and repeat what everyone else said, but this is such a disgrace to this “competitive” mode being launched like this. Absolute fail.

But EVERYTHING else is total bs. Everyone who greenlight this should be ashamed of themselves. BG could've been the future of the game, but alas! Too much greed.

In all betas till date.
I beat the hell out of many whales,
Some whales completely destroyed me.
Remind competitive.
In the end, I always ended up in good ranks on leaderboards. My lowest rank was 208.

But all of that was in the past.
Today, I used 3 refills worth of energy, took me a while to understand how the mode and rewards works.

And I have decided I'm not playing BGs anymore.

This is more pay 2 win than ever. We don’t even get a courtesy elders mark? Seriously? We don’t get any until we spend about 2 energy fills for silver 3? Come on guys you really ruin what a cool mode was with BG with making it pay to play and help your solo/alliance out and pay 2 win to progress as far as you can.

Say you play 5 matches on average a day. This allows you to complete the win 5 matches 48 Hour objective. This gets you 9,100 Trophy Tokens. You may also make some progress on the Victory Track. Let's say you get to 10,200 Trophy Tokens in a month. This may be a slight overestimate.

10,200 Trophy Tokens can get you 15,000 6 Star Shards. You may also get enough Elder's Marks from your progress to get 500 more 6 Star Shards.

This will also cost 2,100 energy to achieve if you are maintaining a 50% win rate which is the expected win rate in the game mode.

If you are able to put together streaks in Victory Track you will earn more Tokens but that is far from guaranteed.

I really don’t understand the reasoning here. Any decent marketing exec can tell you that you need to drive people to the game mode first, get them hooked and then start monetising, then people will pay to continue playing what they love. Instead, kabam have put a huge paywall up so that 90% of the playerbase won’t bother because they can’t see the reward in the game. There is NO bait on your rod Kabam, why the hell would any fish bite that hook unless you’re a whale so large you couldn’t care less. Game mode ruined before it was even started. All because of your own greed

Thanks for ruining the part of the game I was most looking forward to launching again. You can take your pay to play and shove it where the sun don’t shine. Most ridiculous cash grab I’ve seen to date on a game mode.
