I think we are failing to acknowledge that even if you change your deck, the available options are too limited. You are basically down to power burn immunes, and reliable Mystics and armor breakers. Fights against the likes of Man-Thing and Korg cannot easily be done with the typical science and mutant counters.
It’s not that it’s too hard. The nodes are pretty basic, like Kabam says. It’s just that the list of effective counters for a lot of defenders is quite small. Some defenders you simply don’t want to face, as there are no good ways to avoid damage.

Not sure if you have CGR but he is a great option on korg, but I’ve been getting my butt kicked, retuned my deck 3 times and I still can’t win… I have a very large roster and this meta is not fun
This meta is a challenging one, I had to rotate my deck a few times to find the right blend and I’ve done quite well but I can see how it would be very restrictive if you don’t have an expansive roster. I’ve found it’s been a bit buggy with input controls especially block and parry also I seem to only get the same champions appearing in the selection screens after around probably 30 match ups my Valkyrie, Galan, Nimrod and Hulkling have literally only been available 2-3 times each where as the rest seem to always be in the mix. That is really my main issue with the meta, being as restrictive as it is not getting the chance to use the counters or defenders you need is a definite loss and no skills can save you. It would be nice if some skills could reward you say an intercept gives them an armour break it wouldn’t save you from everyone but might help out against a defender not necessarily meant for this meta. In summary this meta seems very hardcore which is fun for a paragon player like myself who has the vast majority of options but others will not be as receptive and rightly so, if this is the level of niche then there should really be a helpful node that requires some skill to apply. Food for thought
I suck at the game and I don’t like the new nodes I can’t win plllllssssss change the nodes pppppllllllllsssssssssssss
I sense sarcasm. Awesome for you that you are really good and must have a very deep roster but the rest of us should not be able to enjoy their new game mode. They put everything into must be elite skilled player with deep roster or we will make fun of you for not liking a fun game meta!
I don't think you suck, but I also don't think this Meta sucks. It's pretty simple, but you'll have to change your decks to deal with it. You can't just brute force it and expect to win. This Meta is not just affecting you but also your opponent. It's also not just there to negatively impact you; you need to lean into it with defenders that benefit from the node to trip up your opponents too.
Battlegrounds will have Metas that change every season, and they will require you to change your Decks up and invest in a more diverse roster. People with larger and more diverse rosters will have an easier time, as they should in a 1v1 PVP mode.
There are lots of people sharing counters and ideas around the forums. Take a look at some of those for ideas if you need them.
PS. The ones I see as most successful right now are the exact same Champions used in the 1st Meta of Battlegrounds ever with Bulwark and Explosive Personality. Lots of Armor Up champs on defence and lots of Nullifiers and Armor Breakers as attackers. Plus, this time, you can toss in Power Burn immune Champs too.
Lmao!! This is the most out of touch comment ever! Go to any media forum that has marvel contest of champions, and look at everybody ranting. You either lie straight to your player base where you were completely out of touch and do not know this game! I would love to watch you play! There are many fantastic players that are struggling to even finish a match and you make some BS comment like this?
Haha dont worry about me BabyMike, i may not have the right attackers but my tech lineup is the strongest class that i have. Got all the top 10 tech champs except Guardian as a 6* r2 or 5* r5 with my limited roster.
As a Paragon player with a decently big roster, I kind of like the meta. It's challenging for sure, but manageable with the right champions. As soon as the bug affecting the neutralize champs is fixed, I'll make a real push (since most of my highest-ranked mystics are neutralize champs). That said, I can see why it seems incredibly hard for those below me in roster size. I think it might have been a better meta for a week in the Gladiator's Circuit than for all of the Victory Track.
I think one major difference between this meta and the autoblock/explosive personality one that was mentioned, is that the former required specific defenders for the meta to create deathtraps. In this meta, every champion is an automatic deathtrap that you have to counter. It makes it a lot more unforgiving. And there is, perhaps, the crux of the matter. You are not really rewarded for having a large roster with the right defenders and attackers; you can just play more unhindered by (for people without those champions) semingly unavoidable damage.
Had I designed this season's VT, I would probably saved the Hit Me, I Dare You node for the Gladiator's Circuit and just had Electric Defense - 2 in the VT. Adding something like Chitinous Thorns to the VT could have made armor up defenders even more advantageous while still not making every fight an instant deathtrap.
Then again, as someone who enjoys the challenge, I wouldn't have wanted to miss this meta simply because I was slacking a bit in the VT (which I tend to do). I can absolutely see how it's tricky to design these seasonal metas. There are so many different groups of players that you have to cater to, all with differently developed rosters and at wildly varying skill levels. I don't envy the designers.
There are more than 3 counters there. That's just my usual Deck. I swapped Hulkling since I just took him to R3. I'm sitting on a Rintrah that is ready to be Ranked. Symbiote Supreme is quite useful this Season.
It’s been less then 12 hrs, the ones who voted no likely get a console game, beat it on the easiest setting day one and don’t bother with the higher difficulties.
Wanted to give feedback of last season's battleground but couldn't, was very busy. Anyways, will combine it with my feedback so far this season.
Overall, last season's battleground nodes were bad. Victory track nodes this season and week 1 gladiator's circuit (victory track 2.0) is and will be mean. Those of you saying use the right counters, there are only so much counters. The bright side is your opponent will also be dealing with the same nodes and/or frustration
This is how I know last season was awful and this season looks like it'll follow suit; the amount of opponents quitting the match before it ends and you can tell it's out of frustration. Most wins were not pretty. Battlegrounds is arguably the most fun mode but that can easily be undone with nodes. 😀
Season 1 and 2 were solid, my favorite being season 2 (bulwark and explosive personality for VT if I'm not mistaken). I dont know about you but I had a decent number of players adding me and saying good game and talked about some interactions. Now what I get often are players quiting sometimes before round 1 is over.
If you ask me regarding nodes, I will stay away from niche node-combinations. This is niche because you need armor break/nullify or power drain immunity. Compare this to bulwark + explosive personality, any champion can do take it on, you just have to play strategically and skillfully. My 2cents. Good night.

mainly to stop people from being jerks but it didn’t work
I’m only running through to collect the entry points at this rate. Probably the least enjoyable content I can recall in quite some time. This is by far the worst Battlegrounds experience yet. Hell, dealing with modders seemed more enjoyable than this trash.

The fact that u compared this meta with the Bulwark & Exp Personality meta is a clear indication that u don't know enough about either of these 2 metas (Not that most of us needed the proof)
Most champs in the game could've worked for the Bulwark meta if one knew how to play around the nodes More than 70% of the champs don't work in this Armor meta bcoz there is no way to play around the nodes except pulling out the almost perfect counters from ur deck

Investing in diverse roaster doesnt come for free. Most of your champ for example Thor Org isn't great, who will benifit a lot in this BG, but you can expect many of us to r5 or R2/r3 him just for the worse BG meta.

I still believe the Meta needs to be made fun for majority not a chore for handful of whales around.. this is a game meant to provide fun and relaxation not stress and discomfort

If I remember correctly, the Bulwark meta had an armor break immunity node… So it was not about the champs that the players had (armor break champs) but about the skilled playstyle (win without hitting opponent’s block)…
This time it’s different… It’s less about skill, but rather the roster… I personally don’t like this approach.
Yes and no. Champs that gained Armor Ups on their Own (being struck or otherwise) were the top Defenders for that Season, so you still had to play around it.
Dude seriously you need to understand the frustration that we're feeling rn, this meta IT'S NOT about skill, not even close....if you don't have a counter for the node you will die while attacking the opponent, how is that even fun? how is that based on skill? Yes many people have at least one champ that can nullify the armor or break but that's not the point, the node sucks because either you use a specific counter for the node or you will die '-' that's insane This node needs to be changed.
It would be much better if the armor up didnt last 30 seconds..maybe 6 7 secs..then it could be a little more about skill..
Im even getting destroyed by defenders that dont naturally gain armor ups..
I will say that longshot and duped kitty pride have been my 2 best attackers out side of the obvious ones like venom, kg, medusa, vp, htd.
Power Burn immune champs Galan King Groot Red Goblin Annihilus (so long as if he has his cosmic control rod active) Terrax (only against #Metal champs) Vision Aarkus (80% power burn immunity) Venompool and Venom (only against Tech champs)
Armour Break champs CGR (against Villains) Thor OG (block) Corvus (block) Cull Vision Aarkus HulkBuster (on SP) Angela (on SP) Cyclops Blue (45% SP 1) Cyclops Red (50% SP 1) Hyperion (SP 2) Medusa Korg (heavy) Warlock (SP 2) White Mags (70% SP 1) Red Mags (SP 2)
@Kabam Miike you’ve been pretty responsive on the thread so I’ll tag you.
I get what you’re saying about avoiding brute force and having proper counters. The issue, in part, is that in a random draw setup, you don’t exercise quite that much control over the proceedings, especially when a second player is making choices to oppose your choices.
I wish it had been a 5% power burn with either slightly smaller champion HP pools or attack pools. In my opinion, it would’ve adequately rewarded playing to the node without the node entirely deciding certain matchups. There are plenty of times you may just want to pause and see if 15-20,000 points gets a win. That’s not good game design.
