Serpent is the worst addition to the game. There is nothing fair about how kit, and it genuinely makes me hate the game playing him. How a character like this can be introduced in the game and then a decision made that he’s fine is absolutely beyond me.
The arrogance “I was in this championship thing for an online game” so everyone should listen to me.
You make a living from swiping and tapping in a mobile game.
Get a real damn job. Have you ever actually had one?
Except that the change he’s asking for exclusively deals with the swiping and tapping game that he’s good at, technically making him an expert in this field.
What a lot of whining here. Why does serpent needs to be nerfed? because you can't win that fight? You aren't supposed to win everything, all of those "top" players thinking they are the best. just deal with it.
You are supposed to be able to take any defender in a winnable score with multiple champs. If a defender prevents you from getting a winnable score that makes them a win condition or close to one. That’s terrible for game balance.
Are people still beating him? Yes. Is he overpowered? Probably also Yes.
Lagacy vid showed him beating him with over 40k in battlegrounds. How is that bad?
Do you play high level battlegrounds matches or high tier AW? No right? Have you ever fought him? I dont think so... you have absolutely no idea what a nightmare this guy truly is.

Did you also not see how little he got to play the game in some of the Serpent fights? You can hardly even play the game because of how powerful the power gain is and how long his specials are. By the time he’s done with his specials he’s almost to another bar of power. How is that fun for anyone?

Out of everyone crapping on me for my opinion, this is probably the best point.
It was like less than a minute of gameplay per fight and yes it was mostly dodging or parrying specials and not actually playing. Definitely not fun. So again, good point.
Hey all. So I don't normally post on forums but I really wanted to for this topic. My primary source of serpent interaction is BGs. I usually try to make it to GC every season, get my one win and that's it. Serpent has been a dominant defender like bullseye, onslaught, photon, maestro. But after repeatedly facing them in BGs, I'm convinced serpent is a tier above the rest.
Serpent has few solid counters (chavez, kushala) and even those aren't the fastest. This creates a situation where not having a counter means you guaranteed lose a match but having a counter doesn't guarantee a win. Whereas champs like sinister/bishop against bullseye and KP/mantis against photon can finish fast or with very high health, hence making you think about your opponent's draft.
Even against a chavez or kushala i can comfortably use serpent if i have counters to my opponent's defense as serpent will stall them quite a bit. At that point, he feels brainless and over-tuned. While this issue is unique to BGs as time is very sensitive here and serpent stalls like no other, I don't see how kabam can ignore BGs for balancing due to it's competitive nature.
Shathra looks like a decent counter and there will be more in future but I don't think introducing a lot of counters is the way. With how strong serpent is, any mystic that counters him will inevitably counter a lot of other cosmic defenders causing powercreep which is unhealthy. Also, look at how tech champs in 2024 still come with increased ability accuracy for domino. Similarly, if serpent stays as is, future mystics will have to be "serpent-viable", pigeon-holing their potential.
I think tuning down serpent will be healthier for the game than not. This doesn't mean turn him into a potato but make him closer to the rest of 2024 defenders.

Yeah you're absolutely right. Whenever opponent drafts a photon and I draft my mantis, they just never put her on defense as one know it's a free W for me.
But today I placed my serpent on defense despite opponent having a kushala, and still got a win because he took 80 seconds, with literally one of the best counter.

You think 40k points is good? Do you play in bronze 3 or something?
First of all, I said OVER 40k points.
Second of all, I don’t play that game mode at all.
I’m not piling on, because everyone is entitled to their opinion, but BGs do matter a great deal. A meta where someone has almost a guaranteed win just by drafting really isn’t great.
Again: The problem isn’t that he CANNOT be killed — although most kits probably aren’t killing it, tbh.
The time it takes is a factor — if stalling is a tactic, OK. Fine. Again, it’s likely not getting nerfed. So stalling then becomes a viable tactic.
But is that really what a competitive mode built on skill and fighting should be? IDK. I kinda don’t think it should be
Fighting Serpent is just awful. It's like he's an EoP fight in non EoP modes.
Anytime I see him now in BG it's an instant ban even unduped. It's just not worth tailoring my deck specifically around him. You need 4 counters to him (kushala, america, SS, wiccan) so that if your 3 get banned you still have 1 left. Only you might not get that champ due to rng of the draft. Just easier to ban him and not worry about it.

But now you have zero skills.
He does what he was made to do.
End game players asked for harder fights.
They got one.

40k isn't even good for diamond

Still wasn’t a trouncing or unbeatable defender.

How am I the only one that finds this a ridiculous and hilarious thing?
You do know what the site was originally made for right?
Y’all crazy then.
Human Torch actually looks like a decent option (though he takes a lot of block damage). Now if only he was a 7*
