Well, Kabam ran a beta test with a select group of Summoners whose profile they were targeting, had the same 5/6* requirements and from the feedback, realized that 6.1 was doable for that target market, albeit wasn’t easy.
From that perspective, the 5/6* requirements isn’t that bad. (Although I still disagree with it.)
They have yet to confirm that the beta testers were held to 5 and 6 stars as far as I know
4* Rank 5 are Challenger Rating 100 5* Rank 3 are Challenger Rating 100
Banning / gating 4* in favour of 5* makes no sense based upon Challenger Rating. They're essentially the same thing!
Selling 4* then banning / gating their use in content deserves to be investigated by more legally-trained minds than mine - but it comes across as dishonest and disreputable. Crystals with less than 1% rates... This all comes across as so greedy - and why? You guys can do better than this. Don't pull a Trudeau Wilson-Raybould stunt. Let's go Canadian Companies - be better than this.
Everyone who likes the game wants to like the company but your actions make it too easy to dislike the company...
I hope you guys relieve how out of touch with the community you are. Kabam can still change it. You guys have 3 more days. If you don't, don't be surprised by the fall out.
@GroundedWisdom I believe you have the same understanding that I have: for example, a particular path or quest might require 2 6* champions to enter.
Where this leads can be problematic—if, for example, there are combo gates...imagine a path that requires 2 Mystic 6* champs. I have none. In fact, I don’t have a Mutant 6*. A path or a quest with a Mystic/Mutant 6* prerequisite leaves me out. If, as @DTMelodicMetal suggests, this is a potential developer theme going forward, the answer for me going forward is an easy one. In essence, “git gud” has become “git lucky.”
@arsjum In another life, I used all kinds of jargon in my field and dealt with professionals in equally jargon-y fields. We were all so impressed with ourselves.
An important thing I learned is this: If you can’t easily explain a thing to someone else, it’s usually baloney. Charlatans and hoodwinkers hide behind jargon.

Already replied to you twice bro, they were.
Thank you I missed it but will go back and find it much appreciated
If they're skilled enough to take out Act 6 with 4*s, then I'm sure they're skilled enough to do it with R3 5*s. Some Synergies won't be used, fair enough. There are others that can be used with 5*s. They've decided to make this the gate people need to go through for Act 6. Not much can be done but look at solutions. We can't rely on 4*s indefinitely. We stopped using 3*s when Act 5 came. Actually, we stopped when we started Act 4, for the most part. If people want to make it mire challenging, try doing it with a 1/25 5*.

This gave me flashbacks of neuropsychology and existential philosophy lectures. If you can’t explain something in layman’s terms you’re either a bad teacher or what you’re explaining is nonsense.
Yes. They stated 4*s would still remain very powerful, when 6*s were released. That they have. They didn't say you would be using them for every piece of content released, for the indefinite future. Act 6 is one aspect of Storymode. It's permanent content, and once you're done with it, that's it. Every other area, you can use 4*s, including ongoing content like Wars, EQ, Special Events, Challenges, AQ, etc. It's litetally one part of the game they can't be used. All of a sudden people are reacting as if they've just removed them from the game.
People are freaking out because this is screwing over F2P and mid-tier players who don’t have the requirements to do this and need the 4*s they have on their team because the RNG is against them. If it was an event that lasted a month and rarely showed up, it would be a different story, but this is permanent content. Having a star requirements on paths were one certain champ can last the entire thing is still a terrible idea. RNG should not determine whether you can do certain content. It can screw you over and prolong the content you could have gotten done month before with a 4* of the same champion
What you need to do it is 5*s and 6*s. What may be missing are the OP Synergies, or the heavy-hitting Champs that make it much easier. That doesn't mean people don't have what they NEED to do it. It just means they don't have the fastest options. No one has even tried yet. It's not even live. Yes, it means you might not be able to rely on the same Synergies and DPS hitters. Ergo, it will be more challenging for some. That's the whole point.
It would be the same amount of difficulty even without the requirements. Why you defend terrible ideas like this dude. This is a way to get called out for the terrible points and keep be the first too say all these terrible ideas they bring are like the best idea and can’t be topped?

I'm losing it, just ran through 46 pages and must be missing this response. Was it on a separate thread, or could you direct me to their post?
Well there’s a lot of people commenting and this might get lost in all the fuss but come on guys. There’s gotta be a few people at least that know what’s really going on here. Kabam definitely wants to bring in strict champion requirements but this isn’t their endgame.
They’re waiting for us to hit peak rage, possibly around when people start getting their pitchforks and start thinking about boycotting. Once that happens they’ll make an announcement. They’ll say something like “we apologize, we’ve listened to your feedback and criticism. So here’s a compromise” and they’ll announce slightly less stricter champion requirements or whatever their real goal is.
After that, the community will see the post. Of course, people will still be upset that there’s champion requirements but they’ll settle for it since it isn’t as harsh as what Kabam initially announced. The community will calm down and behave and Kabam would’ve gotten what they really wanted. It’s what happened with the OG gods nerf (SW, Thor, BW, DS). This is no different. Idk, maybe I’m talking nonsense but I’ve been playing since this game released, this isn’t new.
If the community as a whole is really against the champion bans, stand your ground. 4 stars can still hold their own in game, especially endgame as it’s more about your skill than what champions you have. There’s no reason for champion requirements, but that’s just my two cents, what do I know.
*Sidenote for MODs
I don’t see how this post would be offensive, or in any way against the policies for the forums. Granted I haven’t been on here since last year. Please don’t message me about being banned (if y’all still do stuff like that), I don’t really care as I won’t be on here regardless if I’m banned or not. If this is taken down, just take it down. Please dont message me, I don’t need to be threatened for speaking my mind on a public forum. Thank you.
@xNig what about mid tier players who wouldn't be able to do this anyway but now won't be able to do this? What about them?!
Hm.... they’re gonna try to do it.. then complain it’s a money grab? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I really don’t know. There’s loads of unavoidable damage in there that will kill a maxed 4* in 2-3 seconds.
Honestly these mod responses have just made the situation worse. You load crystals up with garbage then try to force us to play with that garbage while pretending it’s not garbage.
As a mostly f2p player I have grown skills to get through all of your content that I see beneficial with the roster I have. Currently I’m not overly impacted by this decision but once champion requirements fullly cut me off from progression through content because I won’t:
A. Buy your garbage deals
Or
B. Grind my life away in a plat ally
I am out. I nearly quit once back with the AW change fiasco a year and a half ago that was a huge money grab. Got pulled back in 8 months later. This year based off what I am seeing my road may finally be coming to a close. You don’t care about players “frustration” as seen by you adding straight trash to 6* crystals, silently altering AI, and constantly changing the rules in your favor.

What is your doctoral degree on, just curious? I have a PhD in American Studies/History (graduated in December) and I agree with you. Of course, I understand the jargon-filled language used in my specialty but I still can’t stand it. I am a supporters of the six principles of good writing, as explained by Orwell in his “politics of the English language.” But I digress. There is clearly lack of proper communication. What Kabam Goggy says makes sense to dna3000 because he understands that language. I don’t.
folks shouldnt quit. Just don't pay for anything. Grind out units. Do Act 6 when you can. But meanwhile. @Kabam Miike etc. disgraceful behavior and responses.
So many foolish comments from both players and mods about not relying on synergies. Synergies aren't a bonus: they're part of the champ. Taking them away means I wasted the resources I spent acquiring and ranking up those champs. The official clarification was a joke of a statement. I'm no whale but I've spent plenty here... That's certainly done with. I'm sure it's a drop in the bucket to them but they won't see another penny from me.

No, it wouldn't be the same amount of difficulty. Otherwise there wouldn't be the roadblock.

I can see how that's problematic. I wasn't registerting a pro or con on that one. Just explaining my own interpretation of the comment.
As many people as possible should just reply and say something like "disgraceful" and tag @Kabam Miike and the crew just to get the message across. The ban and the responses have been disgraceful.
Every point that @Kabam Goggy brought up is easily countered by the nature of them, they all revolve around just playing the game more. Not allowing a lower level player access to something is a moot point due to the nature of resolving them; just play the game. Eventually you will reach higher and higher levels by just playing the story and event quests. What you can't do is guarantee that you will get a specific champion of a specific type. He mentioned having issues with the Avengers part of the recon missions, which is either a testament that he hasn't played enough to gather Avengers and or Guardians of the Galaxy Champions as 4, 5, or 6 stars; or he is just so extremely unlucky that no matter what he does he just can't get them. I don't want to presume but based on the previous sentence it sounds like his account would struggle with act 5, a necessary requirement to unlock act 6.
Every 5 star arena gives out 150 champions twice, leading to a maximum of 300 new 5 stars being handed out every week. Is it reasonable to only give access to a champion to 300 people? Arena is the only way to build your rosters without relying on rng, and there's a plethora of real life events that can prevent you from grinding out 20+ million points for even the worst of the champions offered. It only gets worse with the additional comments by @Kabam Miike. Requiring a certain amount of 6 stars for a quest is beyond ridiculous. 6 star champions can only be acquired through RNG, there's no arena for them. So you're essentially crippling the champions someone with bad luck can bring to the quest.
The response to the community backlash seems to extremely off base. The reasons being used aren't logical and aren't addressing the points being made. I like this game, I've been playing it every day since March 13th, 2015. I don't want to see it go the way of Realm of The Mad God. I just don't see how these champion restrictions can remain in place without alienating the playerbase. Why invest into a game that won't reward that investment?
I await additional responses from Kabam employees and the videos from the selected Content Creators. Don't let us down, if loyalty isn't rewarded it will be discarded.
People, Kabam's hands are tied by NETMARBLE, as they have been since the v12 update debacle, which was the lynchpin in the purchase of Kabam by Netmarble. The Netmarble business model has destroyed every game they have purchased and MCOC is slowly going the same route. The only reason it hasn't died yet is because of the community that was built prior to the Netmarble purchase, but that community is being destroyed from the inside by the trolls that have been planted to create infighting. Your choices are limited, I for one am not paying exorbitant prices for a silly game..
We wanted to touch on the availability of 5-Star (and 6-Star) Champions. They have been and will continue to be a focus of the Content this year
Similar to Uncollected, reaching Cavalier is going to be major milestone for Summoners. After introducing Uncollected in Act 5 Ch 2, we rolled out content with rewards that helped Summoners reach that progress point, and from there have been adding content and rewards that have (and will) help Summoners reach Cavalier.
As part of the introduction of Act 6 and Cavalier, we will also be introducing more content that will help Summoners gain 5 and 6-Star Champions. Some of that content will include, Champion Challenges, several large meta-events and Event Quests as well as, the next iteration of Back Issues. Additionally, we are taking a look at Arenas to see if we can make 5-Star Champions more accessible.
In preparation to the release of Act 6 we have accelerated the rate at which players can gain 5-Star Shards and the materials to Rank them up. Love Is a Battlerealm, Nick Fury's Recon Initiatives, special events like the Road to Greatness Arena, and Monthly Calendars were designed with 5-Star escalation in mind.
Also, we are slowly adding older Characters as 5-Star Champions, while ensuring that overall game balance is factored into the Champion selection.
The requirements in Chapter 1 are set as a primer for rest of Act 6. Act 6 Chapter 2 and beyond will also have Champion Requirements, including some more stringent ones like paths that have Class Requirements for your entire team, and Rarity requirements where you must bring [X] amount of 5-Star or 6-Star Champions to complete the quest path.
Thank you all for your continued feedback!
All I will say is that previous shadey decisions were met with anger and boycott talk i.e. 12.0 and deversity/no deversity/actually we're keeping it... but the feel I get now is that people can't be bothered dealing with garbage like this anymore. With cash offers ramping up and communication like this I feel more and more people towards the end game like myself will just use this game to kill a bit of time and just stop spending which will eventually kill it off. That is unless you believe that the most viable business model is to pander to the whales and have them fund all development going forward....?
Fyi 4* rank 5 are Challenger Rating CR100 as are 5* Rank 3. They’re equivalent in power... So the argument that someone may not be ready to do Act 6 because they need 5* Champions isn’t supported by this logic.
Absolutely one of the reasons the community is upset is the synergy opportunity using 5* and 4* in a team... another is the money, time and resources invested into a 4* roster. There are many justifiable reasons. Good discussion.
Fighting amongst each other isn't the objective here. My point is, it's a free to play game if you chose. Kabam has consistently put out new content EVERY MONTH. Even if act 6 is beyond a good amount of players, there will still be plenty of fighting (in game) to be done. Don't get so worked up over 1 piece of content when there is plenty available and even more to come. Don't be so quick to jump on the bandwagon, if you have enjoyed the game so far, continue to do so. Act 6 will be here forever. Kabam is a business, they need to make money to keep the game around so that shouldn't be a focal point of this debate... no money no game. If you don't want to spend you don't have to, they don't have in game ads which I appreciate so They need to "milk the whales" to keep it free to play.
What I chose to do is NOT rank ANY champ until I have a need for them. When I got to a point where 4*s were not need, I stopped ranking them, "good tier" or not. Now I only rank top 5*s, in the future only top 6*s. People are talked into ranking up champs by YouTubers, instead of focusing on their actual needs. Simply think for your self and your own needs.

Why the 6* requirement?
Sigh.
It was bad enough with the 4 / 5 * issue and the terrible explanation for the 5* only requirement. Now there’s a 6* requirement?!
Stop this Kabam. Just do the right thing and buy the bag. Aka get rid of gating now and forever.
