Back Issues #8: Deadpoolooza!

Once upon a time, I made the best quest ever!

That's right, you thought some stuffy old designer was going to write this message, but it was ME!

It’s time for Back Issues #8, smacking you in the face on Wednesday, November 10th!

Just like those other dusty old Back Issues we dig out of the closest, THE EXCEPTIONAL DEADPOOLOOZA will let all of my lovely little Summoners relive a classic quest from the good 'ol days, available in TWO TASTY FLAVOURS:

The classic difficulty is a recreation of the original quest. While not completely 1:1, the layouts, difficulty, and dialogue are all the same as you remember. Look back with smug impunity at how easy the game used to be and flex those muscles!

The variant difficulty is a new spin on the quest, available for Summoners level 45 and up. This version features difficult challenges, new opponents, some map layout updates, and buffs that will empower your #Mercenary Champions... and ME!

... as well as those other slackers who're biting the Deadpool brand.

That means all your #Mercenary and Deadpool-family buddies are going to be juiced up and ready to fight, but all other Champions can't do much more than show up! That's right, it's MY quest, so I made it exclusively for those with excellent taste, dubious morals, or both!

The Variant Challenge

Like I literally just said, this Quest is all about me and all the wannabes. So here’s the sitch, we’ve got Global buffs for me and my homies, and we’ve got new Cross Fight buffs for all the other Mercs. Check em out!

Global Buffs

Mercs for Money: The Defender reduces all incoming damage by {95}%, unless the Attacker is #Mercenary, Deadpool, Deadpool (X-Force), Goldpool, Platinumpool, Gwenpool, Venompool, or Masacre.

Star of the Show: Obviously I should get a huge buff in these quests, I'm the original! Let's pump up all my stats, and finally put something on my SP1. (This buff supplies Deadpool (and ONLY Deadpool) bonus attack, bonus armor, bonus crit rate, increased regeneration potency, and applies a Degen effect to the Defender on a successful SP1)

We Should All Have This Power Anyways: This doesn't make sense. Why don't all my copies have the same abilities as me!? Grant Attacking Deadpool (X-Force), Goldpool, Platinumpool, Gwenpool, Venompool, or Masacre permanent Passive Regeneration of [120]% of their Max Health per minute, scaling with their Power.

Cross Fight Ability Buffs

“But Mr Thrillson!”, you might say, and I would say “Yes my sweet little cherub?”, “These don’t benefit the other #Mercenaries at all!”. And you’d be right! I did things differently this time since this is my quest and will be better than all of the other Back Issues, periodt.

Defeating Deadpooloids throughout the Quest will grant you special abilities that you can carry forward into the rest of the quest, making your Mercs stronger and stronger!

Here’s what you’ve got:

Strapped Up (Skill Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "Strapped Up" Cross-Fight ability. "Strapped Up" causes the Attacker's Special Attacks to randomly inflict additional Debuffs for the remainder of the quest.

Starlight Acrobatics (Cosmic Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "Starlight Acrobatics" Cross-Fight ability. "Starlight Acrobatics" grants the Attacker a Phase Passive when they dash back and hold block, causing incoming Attacks to Miss.

Bad Breath (Science Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "Bad Breath" Cross-Fight ability. "Bad Breath" causes the Attacker to inflict Poison Debuffs on Opponents who are near them.

Sucker Punch (Mutant Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "Sucker Punch" Cross-Fight ability. "Sucker Punch" makes the Attacker permanently Unblockable while the Opponent is above a certain HP threshold.

You Shall Not Cast (Mystic Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "You Shall Not Cast" Cross-Fight ability. "You Shall Not Cast" grants Power Steal to the Attacker's Heavy and Special Attacks.

Cyber Hive (Tech Deadpooloid): Defeating this Defender grants the Attacker a permanent "Cyber Hive" Cross-Fight ability. "Cyber Hive" grants all of the Attacker's attacks a chance to Poison and Shock the Opponent.

Ha Ha. So very clever of you @Kabam Thrillson! So you mean that "end game" means redoing existing content with harder difficulty. LoL. Got it.

Sarcasm aside, this is a pretty weak response. I would even consider it funny if the content was not full of bugs and poorly implemented ideas. Since I started playing MCOC, I've generally done all variants on the day they are out. However, I'll be waiting for this one to stabilize before trying it out.

I understand that community managers are not responsible for game development and I have no intention of targeting anyone in particular including @Kabam Thrillson.
Oh but I am considering he directed it at me. Want him to explain exactly how the venompool isn’t an end game fight after all it has act 7 nodes on him

@Wiredawg1 Agreed. However, even in response to your comment it was in poor taste. How in the world are **we** supposed to "ask" Carina?! It was all bound to go downhill from the moment he thought about posting it. It was probably a brain fart: he couldn't control himself and just had to let it go on the forum. :-P

This just happens to often in this game. Content, champs, or reworks that come out that don't seem like they were properly tested. Just have some of the content creators beta test it for you guys. I can't see anyone would have ok'd this fight as reasonable .

Can the guy/guys who play-tested the venompool boss please come out and inform the community of what they were thinking when they thought it was perfectly acceptable to release such a boss? Or if there is a certain mercenary/deadpool related champion counter who with a playstyle can easily down him which all of us are missing for some reason ?

Then there's the bugs. Seriously, who play tested this if anyone at all? How can someone miss such huge, obvious bugs? Bugs happen but this time, it's on a whole new level and somehow surpasses the incredibly low standards already set by Kabam. Nodes/global comboes are bad at worst to ok-ish at best. Seriously disappointing.

This is the second worst variant ever. all because of the final boss, venompool. Domino with cross fight did absolutely nothing against venompool. Using apoc and mr fantastic, I didn’t get the solo and I had zero chance to beat it again except to restart the quest again. Only on my third attempt, I got the solo. Definitely not exploring this variant. Will invest my resources and enjoy exploring 7.3 more.

I've explored every variant except ultron in the past within the week they were released and I have to say bugs aside, this might be the worst variant since ultron's assault, a huge step backwards considering how enjoyable variants have been.

Even with multiple mercanaries at R5/R2, I have no desire to do exploration anytime soon.

By far the worst variant since ultron. So much increased power gain when literally no Merc or Deadpool champ has power control, on top of the bugged bosses and VP. Whoever designed this had better watch out.

Of all the quests, only Variance 8 is the most stupid, the rewards are not in accordance with the situation that has gone to R4 * 6, the kabam is getting lower and lower in quality, the game has not finished the problem, and is now creating useless content, plus unnecessary difficulties. it makes sense, believe me, more and more people are leaving this game, because developers are not creative, and always monotonous, welcome to the end of the MCOC game era, slowly everyone leaves this game, sayonara

At this point the Varient content appears to be aimed to no one. The reality is the fights are to niche and difficult for mid game players. For those at the higher end with the right roster the fights are overly tuned, overly noded with awful node combinations that actually put the fights closer end game content.

Because the rewards haven’t evolved they don’t really help accounts at the high end so why bother and those at the mid game can’t do the content. When they get the roster to do it, the content won’t be worth the effort to help there account so why bother.

There will lots of examples from both of these groups who’ve done or will do V8. But overall I think Kabam need to go back to drawing board on Variant design and really ask themselves who is this content for, what resources does that group of players need to progress and make the contents viability to complete appropriate for that player base. This Variant looks to have severely missed the mark.

I think if the tune up the degen or tube down the regen then it will be okay

The idea of that node feels like u apply a lot shallow debufs and he degens and goes lower
Thats the specialty about it

If it was so then for example gwenpool could be an option too

gwenpool is already an option even with the current set of nodes and bugs, you just have to never parry or use white mags' pre-fight (i think, I should have to test this) ^_^

No she's not. You can't outdamage that regen

No she's not. The regen will outdamage any damage you do

with despair you can reduce his healing to 0, and with AAR you can prevent him from removing debuffs when struck, and you can use the enervate from her SP2 to be aggressive ^_^
